How to Get a C&R License

Curio and Relics (C&R’s) are firearms of interest to collectors or firearms over 50 years old (such as Mausers, Mosin Nagants, etc.) An individual may apply for a C&R collector’s license from the BATF. This license allows an individual to purchase and receive C&R eligible firearms shipped directly to their home though mail order, or pick them up, without completing the background checks through an FFL holder. The license is good for three years and has a fee of $30.00.  This license also entitles you to receive discounts on any merchandise purchased through companies such as Brownells, Midway USA and others.  When registering with these and other sites online just inform them that you have a C&R and you may find other discounts available.

The following Internet links provide you with the forms needed and explain the simple procedure:

Request C&R application form 5310.16 7CR here: http://www.atf.gov/dcof/index.htm
This is the form you are looking for-   F 7CR (5310.16) - Application for License (Collector of Curios and Relics) Under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, Firearms

Download Alien Compliance form 5330.20 here: http://www.atf.gov/forms/pdfs/f533020.pdf

View Q&A about C&R licenses here: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/curios/faq.htm

View C&R regulations here: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/curios/intro.htm

List of C&R Eligible Weapons:http://www.atf.treas.gov/firearms/relics/index.htm

The information is also available by calling the BATF at 404-417-2750 or 866-662-2750

A C&R license does NOT permit an individual to “deal” in firearms.

Here is a link to all of the current ATF Forms for firearms, FFL's and records management. The form you would need for a C&R is the 5310.16 7CR.

http://www.atf.gov/forms/firearms/

Once you go to that page and click the appropriate link, it will bring you to a notice page that says the form is unavailable in an online format. Click the blue link to the Distribution Center Order Form page, fill in your name and address on the top, then scroll through the right hand column and click next to the form you are requesting, then click add, enter the quantity you wish to recieve and then click submit. It's usually recommended to order at least 2 forms in case you make an error on the first form, you have a back up form just in case.

The link to the Distribution Center Order Form page is http://www.atf.gov/forms/dcof/
