I would carry my C9 or JHP45 with one in the pipe, without hesitation... but only with the safety on.
In a real "situation" with adrenaline, haste, and possible unnatural stance/positioning; you don't want to inadvertently touch the trigger while drawing and have an AD. I would rather have one in the pipe than try to rack one in, in a dicey situation.
That said, the safeties on HPs can snag on clothing, and get set in the fire position more easily than some handguns. I've had it happen in more than one "rapid draw" test while in an awkward position (not standing facing the target). But, I've never heard the "click" of an AD (cocked and unloaded) in these dry runs.
Those are just my thoughts; as usual: YMMV.
Charlie
cool man, thanks for chiming in

OK i'll chime in I have carried my C9 on and off duty for around 5 years locked and loaded [full mag 1 in the chamber] either in Uncle Mikes holster or the Fobus never had a problem you are just as safe with a round in the chamber then you are with out one!!! Now if and a big IF you are not confident with it do not carry it L&L carry the 38 and feel safer.
i think i wanna get me a wheel gun after i get the C9. i like the reliability factor of a revolver.

The reliability of wheelguns as opposed to pistols has been hotly contested. Most wheelguns can be broken beyond repair by dropping them. Not so with most pistols.
Of course, you're not supposed to drop any weapon.
(notice I said MOST)

One in the pipe with safety on, and a .38 snubbie is nice add-on too!

I've carried a revolver since I was 18 and out hunting I love revolovers and if I could afford it I'd have many more. I love the C9 but a revolver is something else. Give me a six shooter any day and I'm happy!!

I don't see a problem with one in the pipe. If you're worried about an AD, leave the safety on. I've carried my c9 IWB without the safety on for a while. It won't go off and you'll be fine. Good luck about the neighbor.

Just a word of warning, I had an Uncle mikes shoulder holster for my c9 and c80 that on draw it would turn the safety off. The paddle holster I had (can not remember the brand but it didnt work for a fat man lol) did not do anything with the safety

Living in WI I don't have the opportunity to carry my C9 with me.
I do however relate to dealing with arseholes...And where everyone is making their mistake as that they think the Big, Mean, Ugly woman will reatalliate herself. Not likely...she's a drug dealer and will end up paying some punks or whoever to get revenge. I've seen it a million times. Give someone free drugs and they will do just about anything for you. That being said...your situation won't get better until she is behind bars again...and even then that's not foolproof. I suggest video surveilence for your property. Nowadays you can get a decent full house setup relatively cheap. Nobody wants to have to shoot someone even if it's self defense...I would use that as a last resort. If her illegal activity is still continuing...I would suggest trying to get video evidence of that as well. Even if she doesn't do it in the open...the repetitive traffic is a dead giveaway...take down license plate numbers anytime you can. Chances are they have wants or warrants, after all...they are criminals. Above all else...don't show fear. Sit in your front lawn with a big smile on your face and drink your beer and be proud you are not her.
Hope my 1 cent worth of info is somewhat helpful.

Buy a shotty for your house, and teach your wife how to shoot it for times when you're away.
And get a dog. Some of the best alarm systems ever.
But I plan on carrying with one in the chamber, safety on when I get my CCW.

I always keep 10 plus one in my 380 and my 9mm. These are my defense weapons and I want to be able to flick off the safety and pull the trigger, knowing I can double tap without wasting time.

I've been carrying with one in the pipe, safety on, all summer, all day, every day. Before that I was carrying with an empty chamber. My reasoning came down to what another has said before me, figuring that I carried it all day long and the striker hadn't fallen on the empty chamber, it wasn't going to fall unless I pulled the trigger. So, Condition One for me.

Look at it this way: Cops and soldiers the world over carry their sidearms in what I always called "locked, cocked, ready to rock" position. Simply put, if you have to finally use that heavy, cumbersome piece of modern engineering you've carried for so long, It would suck to have to take the time to pull back the slide, aim, and engage the target. You'd be dead long before that first round is chambered. As to safety or no safety, unlike the Glock and Beretta, the C-9 has a WONDERFULLY positioned safety, and with a little practice, you can flick off the safety in the .5 seconds it takes you to draw down and get a bead. Because it takes just as much time to draw, turn off the safety, aim and fire as it does to draw, aim and fire, the argument is rather moot. Keep the safety on and you don't have to worry about ruining that new leather sofa or killing your TV.

me i would never carry with one in the pipe what you need to do is practice pulling and rackin the slide back get good and fast at it . there are to many things that could go wrong with one in the chamber way to easy for the safety to just get pushed down.
