For the record, of the 2,267 registered members, 1,844 are below 25 posts,... including the last 2 we had issues with.

I check this site regularly but don't post a lot.  I always looked at the for sale forum and do miss it.  The number of posts required should probably be about the same as I what I currently have.  Cheesy

Just go to the welcome aboard forum and say "HI!" to everybody there, or post an inane "Wow, that's interesting/cool/disgusting--glad/sad you posted it."  every time someone posts a new topic.  Then you'll fit in with 99   and 44/100 % of everybody else on teh intarwebb.  And you'll soon have enough posts to be an 'HPFF Distinguished Expert'

I'm new to this forum since I just got into Hi-Points, but IMHO, putting up a post requirement is going to cause more "crap" to be posted so people can quickly get to their 25 posts.

I also understand the need for this, but posts don't always give a good reputation.

You could also change it to view only for under 25 posts.

Just my $0.02....

All you are doing is encouraging new people to make posts.

If someone has acquainted themselves with the community, they have a better chance of someone willing to send them $$$ for goods. It's a trust/relationship/friendship kind of deal. We are not encouraging new people to "make posts", but rather making them join the community. (Much better than having dealers/individuals come in here and only use us for our trading zone)

Well I know I'll NEVER do business with someone here unless they make enough posts as I don't wanna get jerked around and cheated by some crook  who just joined to make a few bucks

That is what I am doing.  Making some pointless posts just so I can read the for sale thread.  Not sure there is a mod SMF forum to make it read only till so many posts but that would be a cool idea.

As a noobie I was a little aggravated about learning this.  But I guess I see the point.  24 to go.

IMHO, I see NO reason why newbs can't have read-only access to the trader. Everyone's money is green.

Posting, however, I can understand (somewhat) on the policy.
