to all users, recently we have been hit with a wave of explicit and pornographic spam.  We do our best to remove this promptly but cant always get it right away.  Please accept the sincere apologies of the staff for any offense that may have been taken from any of the material, we're still working on setting up the spam blocking systems to be as efficent as the one on the old forum.  We will have this material off the site as soon as one of the site admins/mods gets a notice.

If you find any material offensive or disturbing please report it top a admin/mod using the "report this post" link in the bottom right of the message.

thank you

You guys work hard and do your best. Hopefully I can speak for everyone in saying that we understand. Running and/or moderating a site this large is time consuming and takes the help of the members as well.

Thanks Guys!

I think anyone that has spent anytime on the internet knows this stuff is everywhere. It is extremely unrealistic to assume it is possible to keep an open, public, forum, administered by volunteers, and not have the occasional streak of spam. I see no problems worth getting bowed up over.

How does it get in?

The same way it all does, smarter bots. For every security measure we or anyone else employs to fight spam, the spammers come up with a counter measure. No one can stop it all. That is why we have Mods, to pick up the slack where the automated systems fall short.

All in all I think we are doing an outstanding job of keeping spam at bay. The hardest and most difficult type of spam to deal with? The human powered variety. Unfortunately the only solution for that kind of spam is the Admin powered ban hammer. It works well too. = )

There was a guy who spent hours going through member lists and every post on the board on a daily basis in order to fight spam... then a small modification to the registration process made about 95% of it go away over night. You're working smarter, not harder... keep it up and spam will be a non-issue.
