I would like to hear stories about heavily used HP's with "high mileage". How many rounds fired and what, if any parts broke, etc. I am especially interested to hear about guns with thousands and thousands of rounds thru them.

If you read through some of the older posts, I seen some people say they have fired 10K+ rounds with minimal problems.
I wish I had the money for that much ammo. It'd take me many years to be able to shoot that much.

I've got that beat. I bought a new JHP .45 in March and have yet to fire it. I have the ammo, but no place to shoot. From what I've read here, it should last me the rest of my life.

I bought my JHP the first week of December and I have put almost 1,000 rounds through it and I have only had 13 FTFs. 12 of which were nose down and only one nose up.

5k plus rounds thru my 995 in about 2 years. The only problem I have so far is with the bolt that slides the action coming loose. Poor mans therad locker (wife's old fingernail polish) fixed that.

Got my JHP at Thanksgiving and I've got 600 through it with zero problems.

C9 came in in December and has 300 rounds through it with same excellent results.

All were round nose FMJ or cast round nose.

995 i have over 800 rounds with one FTF

C9 again around 800 rounds through it. After i figured out it would not take winchester white box from wal mart it hasnt had a mf in over 600 rounds. just keep your thumb off the magazine eject button

both are great guns and an unbelievable value.

My .40 has about 900 rounds through, it has a crooked extractor but other than that once I got the mags figured out things are good.

I'm real lucky here in southern New Mexico because I can jump in the car, drive 5 minutes and walk 50 yards and be in a nice safe wash with 4-5 foot banks on each side.  Lots of bends and corners and rabbits running everywhere.  I bought my first HP, a 995 in a gunshop and the guy that sold it to me  sneered.   I figured at $140 and it had 3 magazines with the stock mag sleeve how bad could it be?  It was a bit worn and pitted but no cracks or bad dings.  I figured to put a red dot on it but the first time I took it out it just hit everything it pointed at.  I catch quite a few jacks breaking from the mesquite.  The 995 is just so natural, you don't have to baby it or hassle with it.  That extra barrel length will sure throw a 9mm a long way.  A great way to spend a good moonlit nite is to toss a couple jacks out in the middle of the wash and wait for the coyotes to start showing up.  Great fun.
Now I have no way of knowing how many rounds went through my 995 before I got it but I've neve even adjusted the sights.  I drage a boresnake through it occasionally and shoot so much WWB thru it I must own the company by now.  It will digest hollow points ok too tho I have only put a couple mags of those through.  I aint rich cantlook  I couldn't even estimate other than I go out 4-5 times a week and run at least 100 rounds.   I find mine very dependable.  I want a new one too.

I have had my C9 for 3 years now and put close to 2000 rds thru it . Only a few ftf's the first 200 rounds .. I throw the gun in my backpack quite often when I go camping or anywhere I don't want to carry it but also don't want to leave it in my truck .. That bag goes though hell and so does the gun .. Still fires and hit's where i aim it everytime ..

My wife and I both have C-9s with nearly 2k through each of them. Around 500 to 750, the recoil spring starts feeling weak and the recoil gets a bit snappier. Around 1.5k the recoil and firing pin springs start looking like hell, but they still work. I imagine they will fracture at some point.

Hi-Point should really use guide rods like every other manufacture does. Another issue is I had a fractured mag spring. Hi-Point said that magazines fracture a lot when they are dropped during training (which I do - I refuse to baby firearms). Leads me to think that they use cheap spring material (poor quality spring steel is prone to fracture when vibrated under stress). Another good reason to use guide rods.
