market already saturated with cheap 22 pistols

All the ones for less than $250ish seem to suck though...

My point exactly. $250+ gets you a ruger 22/45 or mark3, Beretta NEOS, Walther p22, Sig mosquito, Browning Buckmark, etc. These are  all great guns, but over $250. How many hi-point pistols are over $200?

I bought a Sig Mosquito for $350 when they first came out and that was the special introductory price at "Sig Days" buying it directly from the Sig Sales Rep..  I HATED IT!!! I sold it within 2 months.. I bought it because I wanted to be able to put the Wallyworld 22lr ammo brick (500+ round boxes) in it.. I bought the brick and I got feed and eject problems like CRAZY!! I contacted sig and they told me to use CCI mini mag for the first 1000 rounds.. I went to the store and bought 1000 rounds of CCI mini mag for like $75 blasted through them.. Put my walmart brick back in.. Still feed and eject problems, called up sig, said do another 1000 rounds, I did the, same problem still, so I sold the gun...

My next 22 with be the Ruger for sure unless HP comes out with one...

I'd like to get a target or match-grade .22LR made by Hi-Point.

Anyone know where you can view the pics of the HP prototype .22?Huh?Huh???     I have heard mention of it on different websites but never seen any pics?Huh?Huh?

While I was grocery shopping at Acme today, I stopped and browsed the magazine rack. I was looking through this one gun mag that has a 2010 buyer's guide and figured I would look up Hi Points and lo and behold they had listed a Hi Point 22 named the Chiappa 1911-22. In the product description it had the manufactor as MKS Supply (it really had Hi Point as the title tag in the magazine). It was nice looking so when I got home I searched for it on line and found a few sold out sellers however no reference to Hi Point. So ... any of you Hi Point guru's with a direct line to the mothership know anything about this?

misprint.  Chiappa firearms has nothing whatsoever to do with HP.  totally different company.

That would be nice, but .22 mag in a C9 frame would be even better. There were always questions of reliability with the .22 mag autoloaders though, or so I've heard. Some say that the that the 5X7 isn't that far off from a .22 mag.
When the 5.7X28 was fired placed on the market here, I asked for comparisons between it and .22 mag from pistol barrels.  Actual ballistics are not easy to compare because the .22 mag numbers are almost always from a 16" or longer barrel.  Once someone was able to dig me up some real numbers it became apparent that a pistol firing 5.7 is giving you .22 mag performance at a centerfire (expensive one) price.

Also, a friend of mine has one of the FN pistols (I've never fired a P90 of any type) and while it's okay, it isn't particularly exciting;  I don't think it's worth the cost.  A .22 mag at a premium of $100 or so over their centerfire price (engineering a new pistol and designing/making a mag that will feed .22 mag well will cost) would, in my opinion, be a good deal.  I think it would be prudent for HP to use as many off the shelf parts as possible.

5.7mmX28 FN is often compares to 22 hornet more often than 22 mag.  ammo price well it isnt 22Lr but its still cheaper than .380 acp.Its 22.00 dollars a box of ammo at local gun store as opposed to 30 dollars for 380 when i can find it. then there the net were you can pick a box of 5.7mm for 18 bucks. Its a nato round so you can even find it in surplus every once in awhile. down side is only one company is making ammo for it now. but I read that other companies have things in the works to produce the ammo and tfire arms but they are waiting for some one to break off and make fire arm other than FN. that be great  to have a cost effective carbine/bullup and pistol alternative to the FN. also it be cool to have a cheap 5.7 for A TRUCK GUN. p-90 AND ps-90'S ARE GREAT THEY FEEL COMFOrtable also you can shoot them one handed. they make an AR upper for it 3rd party.
it sells well at the local gun shop.

I have a 5.7 pistol btw. i love it would get another but 1200 breaks the bank you know.
HP 5.7  would deffinately be a curve ball. as would a 5790. i know of atleast one gun writter
said he was planning on making a bolt gun  in 5.7x28 to replace his 22 hornet had as a raunch gun.
 Cool

hi points in 5.7 interesting i'd buy one. the 5.7 fanboys and FN fanboys would buy one rather they admit to it i dunno.
surely Hipoint fans would buy one.

I   will  say   this   slow   so   you can    understand    me

Hi Point calibers are 380, 9mm, 40S&W, and 45 ACP!!  In order  to add more calibers they would have to revamp the weapons which takes time and money for R&D .  BUT they are so busy trying to keep up with the demand for what they do make it may be a long time [if ever] for any new calibers and designs.

I totally agree! Though, I still think threads like this are fun. I especially like the .50 cal threads. Even though they do get a bit silly! Cheesy

Why compete with Ruger Marlin and the scad of others? They filled the hole in the market already.

At prices of 10/22s rising and rising, why not?. I'm sure our friends at HP would make a sweet little .22 that people could afford to buy and to shoot.  Just think of it a TS(ish) type stock and maybe the option of cool accessories like light and semi heavy barrels different scope mounts etc...etc...

Get a Marlin for 150.00 all day long and cheaper if I look hard.

Chrome barrel, micro grooved, tack driver, excellent rep, how in the world HP is going to compete with that?

Marlin 60s go for $100 all day long here.  I wish HP would make a good .22 pistol in the $150 range...but I can live with $250 for Rugers.
