I really want to sporterize a Mosin just wondering people experience with the ATI stocks, bolt conversion and scope mounts. Im looking to make this into a Sniper-type rifle. Im really regretting selling my mosin that I owned for years. I've found a few with the ati stock locally just wondering if installing the bolt conversion is a pain or not. thanks!

ATI

stocks are good, bolt kit is f**kin junk, and you have to drill and tap to use their scope mount.

check out this scope mount though:

http://www.mosin-nagant-scope-mount.com/#m91

and have your bolt modified by boltman(google it).

or you can order a second bolt for around $40 and have it modified if your not willing to chop up your original.  im personally building one right now that is fully functional, but returnable to perfect stock condition.

good luck man

+1 on boltman, heard good things.  I used a darrell scout mount on mine.  works great.

Had a friend gunsmith, for $50 he cut off the front sight just behind, threaded the barrel added a Rick Miller muzzle brake (I bought), drilled and tapped the receiver (ATI scope mount) and cut off and drilled and tapped the ATI bent bolt.  I also shimmed the trigger spring a bit and pillar bedded the action.

very nice, i needed to know where you got that brake..i'll do a search.  just looked at his site, did he do a special order?  seems he only has SKS and AK brakes.  Happen to know that the thread size is?

i was poking around the net and it does seem like any 7.62x39 brake will work, or an FN FAL long one.  I have a 14mm LH die and a TAT, i just never thought to do the MG in it.  i'll work up a little courage and give it a try.  i need to go to harbor freight and get an electron micrometer.

The long one can be original again but the short one will forever be that way. (both 91/30s)

Besides  the ATI you can get laminated wood stocks at http://rifle-stocks.com/silhouette.htm.
The tack driver is real nice for around $139. (Photo from other forum).
They also make them for mausers.
