cycle time for a 40 is less than a 45, but speed of double taps is more about the weapon than the cartridge.

SW
So if I understand you correctly, the average person could accurately fire double taps more quickly with the .40?
by the math yes, in real life, hard to say.  it requires much practice to be good.

Whoa.. Hold the bus for a minute, 1911 mag in HP?? Similar thoughts have crossed my mind, being that I have feed problems with factory mags, but how did you do it?? brow I have a JH9 with the old style heel catch, would that work for my gun?

Yeah, the 1911 mags are a pretty easy mod actually, as if the engineers that designed the poly frame planned it. I sent a PM to another member a while back bout it, can fwd to ya...

Good thread. I will make my next gun one of these 2 so I enjoyed reading about them. My only concern would be ammo costs compared to the c9. Whats the average cost of a box for either of these?

Depends on where you are....
in my AO,
$17 for .45,
$16 for .40
$12 for 9mm, and .380 IF you can find it...
These are averages.  There are usually some for less, and some for more...

I too have noticed more recoil with the 9mm. I really enjoy shooting the 45. While it is heavier it doesn't seem to recoil as much as the 9. My 380 seems to be about the same as the C9. I use the bersa for home and the c9 for the car. The 45 for fun at the range.

Even though the .45 has slightly more recoil, the .40 is smoother and still packs one hell of a punch. I love my .40 cal.
