My mother is on disability and it's nothing to celebrate about. Less than $700 a month I believe. But my dad works so they do okay most of the time. But t was they're only source of income for a while when my dad got laid off. thats realy nothing t celebrate about.

I'm a diabetic.. Can't get medicaid.. well until the diabetes cut off the circulation to my legs and they have to cut my legs off.. Get a little bit of food stamps, They made us jump through so many hoops to get them, lost my job and my fiancee's looking for work too. Can't get help to save out lives.. But they expect us to pay for everyone else. Just looking for a little help, not a hand out! Just pisses me of big time.

My dad is on disability, and it is my parents only source of income I know how it works. It is pretty tight for them as well as my mom lost her job thanks to this horrible economy. Oh and if you are wondering what my dad is on disability for, he has diabetes, he had a triple bypass, and he has sleep apnea, and I believe muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis.

No dude I wasn't speaking bad about genuinely on disability, read saiyandide's post again. he talks like his neighbor is milking the system..thats why I asked disability for what? notice he said the guy owns 3 quads so I asked if he's on disability and can't work how does he ride the quad. From the post I determined THIS individual (not everyone on disability ) is a leech.

This is beyond ridiculous.  Good grief, are they even trying to help the country?  It seems to me like the gov't is setting us up to fail.

Sweet at this rate, everyone will have completely new stuff I paid for, it's like they stole it. devilsidesmile

Yes like me and my neighbor who collects disability, welfare, and now is getting free daycare for their daughter because his workers comp checks (that are only ($100) less then my pay check after taxs. His wife works at Subway less then 20 hours a week they have a nice truck, 3 quads and food to waste.  Meanwhile I work 50 hours a week have 3 children and my wife is a stay at home mom. Things are tight but we don't qualify for anything and I don't ***** about it I just understand that I am to "PROVIDE" for me and my family. I ran into my neighbor at the grocery store and he was telling me with a cart full of groceries how "having foods is great isn't it?" I said no I don't get them he says "Oh you should try for them its ok but you can't get the live lobsters though which really sucks becaseu there the best" He is the same age as me and has so much more a truck that is paid off from a lawsuit 3 quads nice furniture he just takes and takes from the system. And he is only 2 years older then I am and keeps talking about how I need to relax more and do stuff out of the hosue and I tell him I am hardly home to get done what needs done let alone spend enough time with my sons.

disability from what? how does he ride the quad? leech.

I stand corrected he is on workmans comp for hurting his back lifting a tire at his job at NTB. He has been on that almost a year and a half now. He is trying to get on disability since they are pressuring him to go back to work soon or get surgury. Yesterday he worked on a little porch/walk way. He dug out about 2 wheel barrels of dirt then picked up and walked with these big concrete slabs that are like2ftX4ft and laid then down with out any problem. He is able to load his quads onto a trailer then ride all day with out any problem as well. He can't life a tire because of the pain but he is ok enough to sell his pain meds for extra play money.

I grew up with my dad on disability and I know how hard it is food was always scarce we never had money to do anything it was a huge deal to go to the movies once a summer or play mini golf. We didn't get food stamps I didn't have medical coverage so when I was sick I just had to get over it. My "new bikes" were what we would find in trash piles during spring cleaning in the more upper class neighborhoods. (Man some people threw away really nice things that had nothing wrong with them had a nice crome mongoose almost brand new one time) So I feel first hand for anyone who has tried to live on it orknows someone who is. My problem is not with people like that it is with the leeches who just want to retire at 27 so they have time to have fun with out working for it.

SSA disability has a fraud team in most states.  If I were you, I would contact your local Disability Determination Services and let them know about your neighbor's activity.  make sure you have his name and address handy.  they may or may not listen to you, all the states do it a little differently, but its worth a try.  SSA disability is notoriously hard to get on to, even for the people who really need it, but once someone is on the roles, its even harder for SSA to kick people off.

Gotcha, that's cool and I agree with you, it just sounded a little off.

Zombie thread, but yeah here comes your new washer dryer combo set. At least it's not using new money, just part of that big pile left in the stimulus.
