I just saw a NON Norinko Chinese SKS yesterday that was purchased in 1989 for $69.99.  It looked 400% better than most of the SKS's for sale now.

Why aren't you posting pics of your new SKS?...

That sounds like an awesome deal if that is the current price!

I remember buying them in the early 90's for this price. I have Yugos, Chicom and Russian now. My C&R has paid for itself a couple of times already.

Samco   http://www.samcoglobal.com/sks.html   is still selling  SKS's with cracked stocks but those are very cheap to replace $25 at Davids Collectibles  http://www.tickbitesupply.com/sks.html

Those stocks would fit the Chinese SKS but might have a little trouble fitting a Yugo in there. I have fit 2 Yugos in Chinese stocks but it takes a little filing here and sanding there.

You are correct shawker, I mentioned it only as an example I'm sure you could find a yougo stock some where for around the same price

It is on lay-away.  I will post pics later today after I pick it up.

Here it is.  I tried to get a better pic but I am not a photographer.

It shoots well but I think that somebody messed with the trigger.  It seems to be a match grade with a lighter pull?  I do not like the pull so I might try to find a replacement or new parts for this trigger.  Its not a big deal so I can take my time at it.

EDIT: Maybe I will just learn to shoot with the lighter pull.   Cheesy

I just bought a NOS ventilated hand guard that came with a shell deflector from a vendor on GB.  I think I will install the hand guard, a new style firing pin with return spring, and leave it at that.

Upon further investigation last night I found that the trigger was definately reworked to have a minimum trigger pull.

It is sweet.

I just sent the bolt to Murray's to be fitted with a new firing pin and have the bolt face polished and countersunk.

This will be my 5th one.  The first one I bought was constantly slam-firing so I got rid of it and got a sweet Russian SKS then I got a Chinese Paratrooper that looked like it was painted black and it constantly jammed (it was a "K-Sport" or something like that) so I got rid of it and got a better one.  All 4 of those SKS's are long gone.  Got rid of them just before my divorce in 2001.  Wish I still had the Russian and the 2nd Paratrooper.  I think I will still be looking for another Russian SKS, but my next prospect is a Saiga .308 that has had the AK conversion done.  Cheesy
