My mom bought this Charter Arms Undercover .38 Special a while back

It doesn't look like it's ever been fired or handled for that matter. I'm assuming this is made by the "old" Charter Arms am I right?
Any info on pro or con would be great. Just want the lowdown before she starts shooting it. And does anybody know what speedloader to get for it?

OK now that I'm up here I can look over the .38, here is what is stamped on the gun
Barrel - Left side: Undercover .38 spl.
Barrel - Right side: Charter Arms Corp. Bridgeport, Conn.
The SN is on the left side just above and back from the trigger

It came in the original box and the label says Model 1383 undercover

just a basic undercover model 38.  i would avoid +P ammo in it for teh most part other than once in a while.  they are a good solid dependable wheelgun.  and yes it is the "old" charter arms.  tell her to shoot it and enjoy it.

Thanks SW you made her day.  I figured they were fine but you do see people ripping both the old and new CA guns. And while I remember
hearing the same things about HP I still wanted to check just to be sure.

i had one.  they are great!  +1 on the thing about +p.  It will handle it, but only once in a while, so my recommendation would be practice with standard pressure .38spc and load it for use with the +p.

But I loved mine.
