C9 jamming

hey everyon! im a noob to this site. but im glad i came across it. im 22 years old from kansas city, and this is my second pistol. my first i bought was a raven arms mp-25. love it.  but anyways, ive had a few problems with the C9. i bought it brand new and put almost 600-700 rounds threw it already. i like it alot, simple to use. easy to shoot. but i keep having a problem after i fire a round the slide wont come all the way forword. it seems it wont "chamber" the new round in. it just needs a little help. i can easly push the rear of the slide with my thumb for it to fully engage. but i know it has to be hard on the gun.. like i said i am very new to owning handguns and dont know much about them. its a new hobby i picked up. and i do love my hp C9. any suggestions on why its doing that?

Do a search for threads stating "polishing the feed ramp". This should help you. Also if you're shooting hollow points you may have to swith to one with a more rounded nose.

Where at in kC are you?? i am in independence. Whot does your feed ramp look like??? I t might need a polish. When is the last time you cleaned out the chamber area? Also what kind of ammo are you using???

i live in olathe, i go shooting at the bullet hole  if used all kinda of ammo. from cheapo federal to high dollar hallow points. it all still did the same thing.. but thanks for the tips on polishing the feed ramp, i would of never thought about doing that. ill have to give that a try next time im out at the range! oh and i normally do a quick oil and cleaning after every 300 rounds..

There could be different reasons. One of them being the feed ramp. But with my experience, it usually wasn't that. C9's are picky about ammo selection. Find the brand(s) your gun likes and it should be just fine. Also, you might want to try slapping the magazine against the palm of your hand a couple times to make sure the cartridges are fully seated.

Definately polish the feed ramp. If you don't have a dremel, just get some fine grit sand paper and run it over the feed ramp until its nice and smooth. If that doesn't work let us know.

 It could be the feed ram, but I would do a good cleaning especially the chamber area. Sounds like you might have a build up of dirt there holding the round out and not letting it seat all the way, that is why if you push on the rear of the slide it is seating the round.

 Yep, I would definitely field strip and do a thorough clean.

awsome. thanks for all the advice guys, just got some ammo today. ill do a good field stripping and polish up the feed ramp tonight. im off work tomorrow and will have to head up to the range to try it out!

hey everyone! didnt make it out to the range yesterday. but im off work today for the holliday, im about to leave the house now and put 150 rounds threw it to see if it helped! wish me luck!!

i finally made it out the the range yesterday! great time with a the vets thee telling stories! yes i did a complete field stripping, good rub down and polish and i got 300 rounds threw it with no more jams! thanks for all the advice!
