Hipoint carbines are economical and fun. I have a couple of suggestions to make them more appealing at very modest price increases. First, I,d like to see five or eight dollars worth of plastic added to the stocks. While they work well, their sponginess doesnt inspire. Seems like a few more thousanths of thickness would be a cheap improvement. Secondly the rear plastic sight has to go. If an adjustable rear sight costs too much in steel then why not an AK type windage/elevation adjustable front sight? Also lets save a dollar and scrap the scope set up. I know I'm over reaching when I ask for a dual stack magazine. So maybe some improvements in the pistol grip and magazine well would be possible. I do like the little carbines, though. Wish I could say the same for the pistols. While their functioning is acceptable they lack that ergonomic feel and easy point of aim that is so much more important in handguns. Of course I learned on a 1911 so I doubt you'd ever satisfy me unless you turn out one of those. One day I intend to purchase a 995 in .45 and if I find improvements over the 9mm I have here then I will know that your company has a good future.

One thing, the 995 only comes in 9mm and there is no 4595. There is however a 4095. The stock on the TS is supposed to be a lot more rigid. I help one at my LGS and it didnt flex when I bent it so it seems they have fixed that. I've yet to fire on though. Whats so bad about the sites? I could understand if you said you didn't like them, but because of their material? Whats it matter if they were made of wood? LOL. Double stacks would require a whole new setup in the carbine and why do something to an already proven system. They are fun guns that once you shoot, you'll be addicted.

I don't really see any problem with the rear sight being polymer myself, since it has the metal sides and whatnot it seems like it'd be pretty hard to damage. Personally I hate those rear elevator sights lol.
And you mentioned about the stock being spongy, have you tried out the new 995TS yet? That stock feels a heck of a lot more sturdy than the 995 classic stock does.
Maybe one day the 4595 will release...the mystical unicorn of the HiPoint world haha.

As a sporting gun I have no complaints. Its only when its placed in the world of tactical or combat that I would be bothered by the rear sights, or limited magazine capacity. For some reason I'm always thinking combat when I handle a gun. I wasnt even aware of the newer improved stock. Guess I wasnt the only one who thought that old stock unbecoming of a good gun. Yes a 45 is really needed as I have adopted it as my main pistol caliber and 308 for my rifles. Easier to stock ammo for two calibers than six. Ive never liked single stack mags though they are reliable. Thats what I'm stuck with on my 1911 too though.

Check out an ATI stock for your 995, looks and handles better than the original and the TS stock.
Also, as for your 1911, you can get a double stack 14 rounder, get a para ordinance.

I've always heard the double stack 1911s suck. IMO, if you want a high capacity .45, get a Glock or an XD.
While the 995 is a fun, reliable, and accurate weapon...I don't think I'd want to use it in any combat other than a home defense type situation where you may have 1 to 3 people to deal with. If you were going to be in any sort of battle with the 995, you'd have to carry a freaking crapton of magazines lol. One of the main reasons I got a Sub 2000 is so that I can share mags with my Glock, and have a nice, lightweight, compact carbine that would take either 17 or 33 round mags.

I've heard that too, but I think that knock comes from the same people that knock anything smaller than a .45, or anything cheaper than $500, or anything NOT designed by J.M. Browning... Because you know there is absolutely no issue with double stack mags, and there is no way they can't feed a 1911 with a little tweaking. The problem is, a little tweaking makes it NOT a 1911 anymore...so the true believer will always say the 1911 will never be double stack, and ANY issues with one that is offered will be exaggerated to the point of killing the model off. On the other hand, Browning did do the double stack Hi-Power...too bad it wasn't in .45!

Yeah and those Hi-Powers are dang good pistols, or at least everyone I know that's shot or owns one says so. I don't know anyone personally that has a double stack 1911, I've just always heard to stay away from them, and I prefer a Glock myself anyway, but that's just personal preference. I had a 1911 for 3 years and liked it well enough, but the only pistol I've found that fits my hand better than a Glock is the Desert Eagle .50.

Its not meant to compete with AR's or M16's. The 995 is a very great gun if you know its limitations. I think you'd like one if you gave it a shot!
