Was at Wal-Mart tonight looking for 9mm ammo. The guy at the counter was really nice and helpful but after Hi-Point came up he just wanted to bash them. I was telling him how great the company is and that I found a great deal on a 995 and sent it in and they rebuilt it. He said but a good gun they would not have to do that to. So I just let it go. He was a nice guy but there was not changing his mind on the subject. As usual he has never even touched one.
I was also at a local gun store tonight and picked up a hogue grip for my C9. Can't wait to try it out.

Well that's fine, because I think all guys who work at the ammo counter in walmart are less intelligent than your average dog, and that if their opinion was worth anything they'd have a fortune 500 job and never even need to step inside a walmart.
Of course I've never met someone who works at the ammo counter at walmart. I'm just repeating what I heard from my buddy at the overpriced local market that was featured on television and gained international popularity which caused them to double the prices of their products.

It's a shame he thinks that, IMO hi points were made just for people like that, who work at walmart pulling down a honest living but might not be able to afford a *insert your favorite fan boy loved brand here*. Their real big on youtube, usually makes comments with a bunch of poor spelling and punctuation. Thing is you always check out what videos they have that they feel justified bashing hi points and usually they don't have jack squat and their age is like 21 or 22.

This was not your usual WM kid employee. He was probably retirement age and was very helpful. He went back and checked all the skids for that night to see if there was any 9mm ammo so I would not have to come back in the morning and check. I don't really care that people don't like HP's but it just always amazes me that people will just flat out tell you that you have a piece of junk. Even if I thought that I would not say it. I would figure that's what they can afford and they seem happy with it.

How can you hate a gun when you have never handled one or shot one. I guess if you heard it from a friend of a friend of a friend then it would have to be true.

Thats very true. I saw only good reviews about Hi-point, and a buddy of mine had owned 2 or 3 of them in the past. He also only had good things to say. So I took the dive and got my first one the other day, tested the hell out of it today and am quite impressed. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up spending a lot of my money on the other models as well.......Actually I know I am. Can't wait to get another soon.

Well, I'm a case in point. Over on the Bersa Talk board someone asked if anyone of the members there would buy a Hi-Point. The first few responses were that they were so dang fugly. Okay, I may have been one of them But one by one, other members started speaking up, saying that they had one or two, and despite their appearance, they went bang every time and they never had any trouble with them. And they pointed out the lifetime warranty on the gun to any owner, which is even better than Bersa's lifetime warranty (to the original owner). So I think a lot of people had their eyes opened. I know mine were. When I saw that HP had come out with a new stock for the 995 "monkey gun", I had to take a serious look at it. The local hardware store happened to have one in stock, and I had to have a look at it. It was kind of hard to give it back to the counterman, but he said they get them in all the time. So I went home and started doing some research and found out that the biggest complaint from the old timers is that they're not making them fast enough, and from the newbies, the complaints are related to the fact that they don't know that much about their new guns. Well, that spoke volumes to me. I logged on here at HPFF and became a registered lurker. The more I read the more I liked. Finally I went and did the deed. I'm the proud owner of a 995TS and plan on taking it to the range tomorrow and giving it it's baptism by fire, so to speak. Sorry about the long winded first post.

995 "monkey gun" Get your hands off my gun, you dam dirty human!!! [Just jkin wid ya] Incidentally, I had never seen the term "monkey gun" until I read it on this forum. Obviously, it was used as a term of endearment.
