I had to look up what the monkey gun looked like. They do have some similarieties.
I'm a big boy and can handle the comments people make and I just say who cares I love HP. It was more a commentary on how rude people can be these days.

obviously, this man has never shot an HP in his life. isn't funny how people are prejudice towards weapons they have never used.

How can you hate a gun when you have never handled one or shot one. I guess if you heard it from a friend of a friend of a friend then it would have to be true.
After I shot a glock I still hated them but not really, I love shooting the Glock 22, absolute joy to shoot! I still give Glocks a hard time but I guess people will not change their mind set. My Hi-Point is DEFINITLY more fun to shoot than my Taurus.

I ran into the same sentiment when I got my 995TS. The front sight was way out and I took the gun back to the shop to have it adjusted. (No sense using my bullets to fix a new gun.) One fellow's response was "What do you want, it's a Hi Point." The other said they'd take it to their range and dial it in for me. I've been going to this gun shop for years and was a bit surprised at Jamie's attitude.
When I went to pick it up the next day, both of them had big grins on their faces and agreed the gun was a hoot to shoot. I wouldn't be surprised to go in there the next time and find one on the rack for sale, since it's not the sort of gun they routinely have in stock.

I'm 6'4" 1/2 and have huge hands, its terrible finding gloves that fit, let alone a handgun. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the JCP .40 I bought. Order a slip-on grip that I hope will make it even better!

obviously, this man has never shot an HP in his life. isn't funny how people are prejudice towards weapons they have never used. This is the story behind every Hi Point hater. About 99.9% have never shot one or even held one. They just repeat something they heard a gun snob say..

I took my son and grandson shooting Friday. I showed my son my new 995TS and he said, "Hi-Point? I've heard bad things about them, but this doesn't look bad at all." After the three of us put 50 rounds each through it he had nothing but praise for it.

There’s been an interesting thread going on at the Utah Concealed Carry Forum where I’m a member. One of the members asked for recommendations for a reliable car gun, something inexpensive that wouldn’t break the bank if it were stolen. Hi-Point was recommended several times, but there was a hater in the group. Thought I’d share the following exchange. http://www.utahconcealedcarry.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6960High Point? You have to be kidding me....
There's a reason respectable gun smiths don't work on High Point, Jennings and Jimenez firearms. Respectable gun smiths shouldn't work on Hi-Point firearms because they're not qualified to do so. If a Hi-Point firearm needs work, it should be sent back to the factory, where qualified technicians who know the gun will give it the care it needs, regardless if it was sent in by the original owner or the 10th. This will be done at no expense to the owner, other than the cost of shipping to the repair center. It will be sent back to the owner on the factory's dime, usually with a new magazine to compensate for the bother. No "respectable" (gun snob) gunsmith is touching my Hi-Point, ever. Go on the Hi-Point Firearms Forum and read what owners are saying about their guns, and about the service and support they get from the manufacturer. Are Hi-Point owners prejudiced? Probably a little, but they've had the benefit of ownership, unlike the vast majority of gun snobs on this and other boards, who've never even fired one. Are they ugly? Yes, but no uglier than the prettiest Glock. So hide it under the seat or in a lockbox or in a concealed carry holster where no one's going to see it anyway. Imagine the mortification and embarrassment it would cause a bad guy if he got shot by an ugly gun. Are they cheap? Yes, the manufacturer has deliberately tried to keep acquisition cost at a minimum in order to make exercising our 2nd Amendment rights to keep and bear arms economically available to people from all walks of life regardless of their financial status. It's an American company, owned and operated by Americans, making American guns completely from American materials, right here in America. Are they reliable? According to the people who own them, they are. And anyone who has trouble can call the toll-free tech support line and talk to a technician and get answers to questions, or get parts sent out, usually free of charge, or if it's not possible for the owner to fix the problem, they give them instructions on how and where to send the gun. I've seen reports of people sending their Hi-Points that was burned to a crisp in a house fire and receiving a completely rebuilt gun in a matter of two or three weeks. Will Ruger or Kimber or Colt or Smith & Wesson or Walther or Sig do that? Will any other gun company? http://www.hipointfirearmsforums.com/Forum/index.php
