i would have to agree with every 1 go with the c9 ,although that being said you can order 380 ammo online and it is more expensive and usaually a waiting period,AmmunitionTo Go has 380 gold dots in stock 50 count for 34.99 i beleive, just up to you on how long you want to wait or how much you willing to pay, anyways happy shooting and good luck with your choice

OK  I think you guys have convinced me.  C9 it is.  I will have to get it now and take it out.  Thanks for all of the input.

I was in same boat as you yesterday. I was at LGS and debating which one to get. Both were same price and same size. I picked the C9 because "Bigger is Better" lol and ammo is cheaper and easier to find, and I bought it to shoot, not look at! Get the C9. I bought mine yesterday and took it to the range and fired 100 rounds thru it and am hooked! Next will be the .45acp!

It was a really tough choice for me also. I preferred the way the 380 looked, but I knew nothing about it. Fortunately I had been researching the c9. I asked the guy at the shop about the difference in ammo prices and when he quoted me the price of a box for each gun, I had my mind made up right then.

just sand powdercoat off the raised section of your C9 and you have the .380 look with with cheaper 9mm ammo!

Is it prone to rust if I do that? That is a very good suggestion and I thank you for it sir.

i started out with the 45, then bought a cf 380, and then sold it and bought a c9 comp. I did this so I could consolidate calibers, as i reload. but now I load 380 anyways for my keltec p3at. I would go 9mm, because there are better ammo options, and the cheaper ammo.

The slide is die cast from a zinc-family alloy that includes aluminum, magnesium, and copper and is called zamak-3, rather than machined from forged steel. Don't think you would have to worry about rust. 380 doesn't rust.

I have the C9 and the 380 and really like to shoot the 380 more than the C9, but I don't appreciate the pain that antagonizes me every time I shoot the 380...so I stick with my C9. I shot 50 rounds through the 380 today and put about 100 through the C9 and it cost me about the same to do that.

9mm does seem to be freeing up a bit but 380 is still VERY hard to find.

HI all...first time on this forum, read some good stuff here, thanks for all the info.  Just got my first handgun (C9) love the way it handles and fires, was a little shocked at the price of ammo, am thinking also about purchasing a 380, but ammo is very scarce up here in NE Ohio, anyone know/have a reason for ammo being scarce? Cool

Sure. It's been scarce since about November 5, 2008. With Obama in the White House and Democrat majorities in both houses of Congress, no one is sure how long before the 2nd Amendment is repealed and possession of guns and ammo is criminalized on a national level. So everyone is buying ammo and guns and ammo components for reloading as fast as they can scoop them up. The ammo companies are busting their hump trying to keep up with demand and they can't do it.

Where in NE Ohio are you. I'm in central Ohio and ammo for the 40 an 9 is plentiful 45 is a little less but still available and 380 is the only one that seems hard to get out of those 4.  Welcome to HPFF
