....I'm looking at replacing my ATI drill and tap mount currently on my 1891/30. I'm looking at getting a bit more room to operate the bolt (it's also got the ATI bolt mod on it). Has anyone out there tried one? How'd you like it? Is it solid, trouble free and will it hold it's zero? Inquireing minds want to know.....

I've been wanting to try one of these out. The only thing that has been keeping me from doing so, is that this costs more than the actual rifle.

....True, but what can you do? I've tried the cheapo ATI set-up and I really don't like it. The replacement mount will be about what I paid for the Mosin, but I figured it's still the cheapest shooting big bore bolt gun around. You can't shoot a 30-06 or a 308 for 20 cents a round like you can a Mosin Nagant. I just love those surplus spam can, 20-40 year old rounds......Viva la tightwad!.... Cheesy

They make a rail that replaces the rear site, no drilling or tapping so it can be returned to original, and you can mount a long eye relief scope on it.

I had the long eye relief scope on my last mosin. Not really worth it. I may have to just spend the money on this one though. It replaces the rear sight as well but you don't have to use a long eye relief scope for it.

Ah, ok, and LER scopes aren't bad at all.  Not the ones I've shot with anyway.

Also, you have to have a bent bolt to use this, I don't want to permanently alter my mosin.

No the long eye reliefs aren't crappy or anything like that. I had one on my Super Redhawk when I still had it and it was great. It was just kinda weird for me when I had it on my Mosin. Now the Mosin I have acquired recently on the other hand, already has the bent bolt on it. My friend put this weird scope mount on it too and it's garbage. You remove the barrel and action from the stock and there's a metal band that you slip under it and put it back in the stock. I'll find a link for it somewhere. Not too worried about bubba-ing this one up as I'll have another Mosin here shortly that will remain untouched.

I ordered a B-Square mount for a Savage 340 and it perfectly fits the round receiver contour on my 48' M44 and my 43' 91/30. I will just barely allow the use of the iron sights, as back-up, though so I was thinking of rotating the mount about 12 degrees counter clockwise. This will allow use of the iron sights up to the 300 meter setting. It will also put the scope centerline about 1/2" to the left of the barrell centerline. Other than POA being 1/2" to the left compared to the barrell are there any other reasons this might pose a problem?
