So I finally took my new C9 to the range tonight.  Fired around 70 rounds through it, mostly PMC Bronze with a little Winchester white box (both round-nose FMJ) no malfunctions of any sort.  Gun feels real good in the hands and points well, sights are fan-frickin'-tastick.  I really don't get the cryin'-butt-female-dogging that so many gun snobs have against the weight of the C9.  It weighs a whole 2 ounces or so more than guns 3-4 times the price.  Sheesh.  Anyway, to continue, recoil was minimal and the gun wasn't all that loud.  Didn't have to hold it in a death-grip to make it cycle properly, either.  Fired my dad's Kimber 1911 9mm full-size and it felt heavier in the hand, kicked harder and went bang louder.  The C9 was also very accurate, particularly in my dad's more seasoned hands.  He picked it up and put one right in the bull's eye on the first try at 21'.  I stuck a few there and in the inner ring, but I had a LOT of flyers.

Which brings me to my one and only gripe about this fine firearm: The trigger.  Now, I'm no snob and I'm certainly no expert, but my Phoenix HP22A and my dad's Kimber both have nice, crisp triggers.  I *never* pull my Phoenix off-target by "jerking" the trigger.  But the C9 has a comparatively difficult, stiff trigger that lacks feel at the break.  Does this get better with break-in?  Any trigger tuning possible?  I think I'll get used to it and it won't be a problem, but I'd sure like it to have a more positive feel and be less "numb".

Anyway, bottom line is despite this one flaw, I love the C9!  I am very happy with my purchase.

Oh, another question, do I need one of those "caps" or whatever for practice dry-firing?

Odd, never had an issue with the weight of the trigger.  To me feels spot on.  Even when I first got it.

You can slide a pencil down the barrel and hold it so it doesnt fly out.  Or if your practicing just let it fly out.

Smoothed up the trigger pull on C9

Got my new C9 for $129 and took it to the range on Sat.
I fired 70 rounds with no problems or FTFs.
The only negative was the trigger pull which was not smooth but kind of catchy.
Having read that the pull smooths up after a few hundred rounds I decided to try another way.
I pulled the trigger without  cocking or firing the gun.
After about 100 pulls I began to notice it getting smoother.
I pulled it about 200 more times and it was smooth as silk.
I cocked it and put in a pencil and it pulled as smooth as my friends Sig.

I'm happy you like this gun. I got my c9 about 3 weeks ago now and have only been able to stick about 150 rounds through it. Overall I am very pleased, but I think through some break in I will be even more pleased. I had a few jams, nothing major, other than that, it shot well and I am happy that I bought it.

Yeah, I saw the thing about pulling the trigger without cocking it after I posted.  Guess I should've searched (duh).  I'll try that.
