my buddy ron, and i went to the range today to zero his "mbr", and i decided to bring my 9mm hi points (995carbine and C9) because i'm waiting for something i ordered for my sks, plus it is really hot today (+94) and i really didn't want to haul any extra weight. i also made sure to pack some water because i had no ideal how long we would be shooting. we started bench shooting to make sure we were zero in at 50 yards.

after a few adjustments, we switched to 100 yards, which is interesting because my targets are really 50 yards, but since i had a red dot on my 995 i figured why not.

after this group, my buddy ron decided to make things interesting, and challenge me to do a few pushups to see if my shooting changed, and guess what, it did!! at 75 yards, we rotated doing pushups (20reps) after every magazine. in addition, no more bench shooting. you could only stand or kneel. i checked my HR (heartrate), and it was +20 after every set of pushups.

i've gain a new respect to people who need to shoot at a time when there HR is elevated, and not just shooting from a bench at a stationary target that cannot fire back. fatigue is a major factor, and if you don't think size is a factor, WRONG. my carbine is barely 7lbs fully loaded, but when fatigue set in, it felt like a 20lb rifle, and it showed in my shots fired. this is something i will be adding to my visits at the range.

FYI - i am now reconsidering taking my 9mm combo if i need to bug out. buggin in with a sks is a no brainer for me, but weight is a serious factor when buggin out, especially if you are anticipating firing shots. this also made me appreciate WATER, not tablets to make sure the water is clean, but having WATER on hand when it's needed.

Very nice shooting, if you placed those over a B27 Target... all shots would be COM shots.

That sure is some nice shootin  Smiley

I know if I had to bug out I'd be hard pressed to carry my 2 pistols, 995 & .410, along with plenty of ammo & my BOB.

Fatigue would set in real fast with all that weight & shooting while carrying it all would be a major feat!

I can't wit to see your next range report with "Stress Test" included

Don't forget the water & lots of it!!

thanks guys..  i want to try this with my sks, and see how much different my shooting will be.  my sks has to be at least 3 additional pounds.

i want to shoot at moving targets.  does anyone have any ideal where i can get them?  i tried a couple of stores in/around my area, but haven't found anything.  i'm thinging about maybe trying a paper target attached to a swinging tire.

that's a great thing to test. it really is amazing what a difference it makes. I sometimes jog out to the 200 yd marker and back then shoot, but I never thought about pushups. That will really freak the game and fish boys out (it's their range) next time.
