Default Hi-Point Warranty

I am a bit confused about the warranty. I just bought a JCP 40 S&W and the paperwork in the box states that the warranty is only good for the first purchaser and that it is a limited warranty. the website states the following....

The Hi-Point Warranty

All Hi-Point firearms carry a lifetime, "no-questions asked warranty." Whether you are the original purchaser, or the third-hand owner, your Hi-Point firearm will be repaired free of charge.

Can someone shed some light on this? Thanks!

You are covered for life. The paperwork hasn't been updated for years.

Last week I called MOM looking for the ghost ring sights for my 995 classic(now in the TS stock) expecting to pay for then because they did not come with the gun when I bought it but to my surprise no charge and got then four days later. Hi Point's customer service is great and Im a customer for life. Next is the c9 cant wait just a couple more weeks.

Last time I checked, the manuals they send with the pistols are wrong as well in the schematic. My belief is that they bought like 30 million warranty cards and manuals years ago and are too cheap to buy new ones that are up to date...

Another question to go along with this. If you do any mods, such as polishing the slide or painting the grips or frame, does it void the warranty?

As long as the modifications that you perform DO NOT effect the actual functions of the weapon it will not be and issue.. now if you get the bright idea to disable safety's or start drilling and grinding on the gun then you are on your own.
