Default My First Real Convert

Sponsored a coworker who got back from being stationed in England for a few years, so he was gun-starved. We went shooting together a lot, mostly we would just use my guns. Then he went out and got his Dad an M1, which of course he played around with himself. It kind of started a gun snob attitude I was pretty nervous about. Now, don't get me wrong, the M1 is...Hell, it's the M freaking 1 lol. 'Nuff said. But he started only looking at Springfields, Colts, Kimbers, etc.
He was preparing to drop like $700 on a 9mm one day we were out shooting (he is an impulse buyer with a credit card, guns are no exception), and I knew he wasn't studying around (he was looking at a Springfield XD-9, which normally goes for around $450 - $500). So I kind of talked him out of it, told him to look elsewhere (it was posted on a bulletin board, not by a dealer).
One day he's strugging with a Taurus (pistol, not sure which model), and I was going mag after mag after mag, he was jamming up a few times. So finally I just told him to go to Bud's, go to some local dealers, and ask around. Look at reviews, rent some and try them out, etc. etc. He was WAY too focused on brand names (the words, "But it's a Glock," came out of his mouth more than a few times), and would dismiss HPs in a snap.

Comes back yesterday with a C9 lol.
Now it my turn to tease.

Both. He got it for $100 NIB from a guy on Armslist, but before he made the sale, he went to the range and test-fired it, apparently fell in love, and got it. Been loving it ever since.

Amazes me how people will spend a ton of money on guns without doing their research. Lucky for him he's got a good friend.

Great story Flyboy and I can relate to it. On the high end I have a couple of Kimbers and I also have Hi Points in .45 carbine and in handgun. My wife has a new luxury car that I enjoy driving every once in a while but I feel right at home in my heavy duty basic pickup truck that is very reliable. I like them both and I like them both.
