I was told by most people that the recoil from a .40 cal has more snap than a .45. When I went and shot my HP.40 and RI 1911 .45ACP, the .40 has no where near the snap my .45 has. But I will tell you one thing, The HP shoots just as good as my RI 1911 and people are dogging the RI also because its one of the cheapest 1911's you can get. I think people put too much into what the gun cost.
Depends somewhat upon the ammo being used to me the 40 has more muzzle rise and the 45 more push.I have shot both hipoints as own a jhp 45 and a friend has the 40,another has a c9 and uses it for cc.
I find the .40 JCP is snappy, and the .45 JHP is pushy. I think the .40 JCP is feminine and the .45 JHP is masculine but I love their different moods...
