Default 15 Round Pro Mag Warranty Void Question.

Hey guys, me again...guy that lodged 3 bullets in his 995 barrel.

Question. I remember someone saying they contacted Hi Point about pro mags and voding warranty. What exactly is it that mag is suppose to do to ruin the weapon? My friend just got a 995ts and I'm trying to give him the skinny on everything. He's a first time Hi Point buyer so I'm trying to give him the ups and downs of everything.

Thanks guys

the improper design of the magazine follower allows the bolt to "slam" into it when teh magazine is emptied instead of properly activating the LRHO. the resultant whack agaisnt the frame will break it in short order.

Ah, I see, thanks.

I guess my gun must be defective then because it does that with the factory mags. You think they would have caught that when they test fired it after repairing it.

Anyway, I already told him to steer clear of the ATI stock becuase it will bend the pins. I know it did mine. Not to mention my misfeeding problems. But he likes the TS stock better anyway. So that parts all good. I just didnt want him rushing out to do something without having all the info and I didnt have it.

That would explain how the original frame on my 995 (the one I just upgraded to the TS stock) was broken (when I bought it used unbeknown to me). It had one of them pro mags.

wow. I need to get a factory mag for it before I shoot it again.

Is that with all of them? I thought they just redesigned them to work with the LRHO on the 995 TS. I just got a new one and it works great! Better than any of the Hi-Point ones I have. I now keep it in my gun all the time but if It is going to mess it up I don't want to use it.

to my knowledge even the redesigned mags still do this.

jasonFMX - thats the normal LRHO operating. the bolt catch stops the bolt. in the promag the magazine follower stops it allowing the full force of teh bolt to be imparted on teh mag. this breaks the frame.

Right, I get what your saying. But my gun does not do this with either mag. I actually have to count how many rounds I fire because otherwise my 11'th round will be a "click" because it does not hold open.

I agree, is it the mag which is being impacted and breaks?
