Default 4595 and the modified 1911 mag question

Has anyone tried the 1911 magazine modification on the new 4595TS and seen if it works? If it does, then I am VERY, VERY interested in the 4595TS all of the sudden. Granted I'm not one for all ammo capacity all the time, but I'm still morbidly curious since hopefully (if things even out) I will finally be replacing the carbine in my collection once again, and now I have a great selection to choose from

I have a 4595TS and also several 1911s. Where did you see the info on mag mods?

One of our members modified 1911 mags to function in his JHP. He posted up pictures of this a while back. Search around a bit and you'll find it.

I know this questions has most probably been addressed in an earlier post, but what is the issue with HP not producing a HiCap mag for their weapons. There must be some legal classification issue that prevents this. I see from this forum, there is definitely a demand for it, so I'm curious as to why not. This will prevent folks from having to fashion their own mods and the possible safety concerns related. I would also think, some of the aftermarket mag makers would quickly have filled the void. Advise.

Well, the 10rd mag limit for most state AW bans would possibly be a concern, but AFAIK no one at HiPoint has actually come out with their reasoning. There is an aftermarket 15rd magazine for the 9mm carbine, but it has a rep for not working well. Some have tried to make higher cap mags but generally run into the problem of a mag spring strong enough to feed the heavier column of ammo puts enough pressure on them that slide cycling is affected and jams start happening. A few "insiders" have said the factory is looking into higher cap mags for the .45 carbine, so we may get those.

Right, I think the powers that be at HP didn't want to run afoul of the Assault Weapons Ban or any "risidual" state bans that limit capacity to 10 rounds or less.

Slightly OT; what's the big deal about 1911 mag compatability? Aren't most 1911 mags 7 or 8 round capacity at the most? And the 4595 magazine capacity is what, 9 rounds? And once you make the modification, is the original 1911 mag still compatible with the 1911 pistol?

The 1911 being as popular as it is, many aftermarket hi-cap mags exist. Wilson makes a 10rd extended mag and ProMag makes a drum, and I've seen "no-name" extended ones in the 15rd range at gunshows over the years. I think the hope is that the drum can be modded to fit.

15 rd 1911 mag, put JB Weld on 15 rd mag ,same spot as on the original 10 rd mag.
Build up a (hump) like on the 10 rounder.file ,sand to fit.ck often for locking and last round fired bolt lock back.
Have done 3 and no problems.the 45 carbine shoots as fast as can pull the trigger,no jams.

Good idea Joe,but they would not work in my 1911 until I removed the bump.
I have 18 SS Checkmate 7 and 8 rd mags and a national 15rd ,a promag 40rd drum, and the three mags that came with my PT1911.I like the idea of pistol/carbine shared magazines.
