Default ATI stock Fix?

I have been reading about the ATI stock doing damage to the gun from being to stiff. I was wondering if drilling out a decent size hole behind the 1/8 piece of rubber in the stock and filling it with something like cork or steel shot/BB's and capping the hole would make a difference or would I be wasting my time?

If you're going to weaken the structural integrity of the ATI stock, why not just go back to a classic stock. or upgrade to a TS stock?
IMHO all you'll do by drilling holes and filling them with random stuff is make a flimsy ati stock that sounds like a maraca when you fire it. (assuming you fill it with bb's)

If I were to do this I would pack it tight so it is still solid just something to absorb some of the shock and I most likely wont use the BB's/ steel shot because of the added weight it was just an example of possible fillers. My first choice is cork it is light weight and great with vibration dampening. I use cork pads under some of my large shop tools to minimize movement.

the point of the fatory stock flex is to spread the recoil force out over more time. the same thing is accomplished in teh TS with the springs in teh butt. i dont think you would gain anything as the material the ATI is made of is inhernetly too stiff for the application.

As a fellow ATI owner. Give it a rest guys. I am OK for "problem solving" but unfortunately there is no way to reproduce the issue Hi-Point says you would have unless you shot the "hell" out of your 995. It's like were trying to solve a problem that barely exists.

After pinging this topic alot, I agree with Battousai. From a previous post from Walt, he would typically shoot 200 - 300 rounds per session and I assume many sessions before he started experiencing problems.

There seem to be a lot 995 ATI's out there and few reported issues on the forum.

As a fun plinker, I think I'm going to be OK with my 995 ATI; I am building a bridge, getting over it and enjoy my carbine.

There is not a shred of evidence that the ATI stock causes any problems. Just fit it as-is and enjoy.

"says" isn't evidence.

I'll keep using my ATI, and if it ever does break the gun, I won't expect HP to fix it...my choice, my cost.

I don't think they should have to fix it, regardless of whether there is or isn't evidence either way; it is their call, and their warranty and service is still so far above and beyond anyone else's...I'm good with whatever they decide.

Gentlemen,

I freely admit I have "shot the hell out of" all my 995's in and out of the ATI stock. They were meant to be shot IMHO. I can't think of a more fun carbine, with a lifetime warranty, to do it with than one of Hi-point's firearms.

Enjoy your 995 or 995TS no matter what you have on it. It's your gun and do with it what you want. I sure do.

Walt

As far as intervals of the 2 out of 3 that had failures I have mentioned them in other posts.

Edit: Spelling
