?HP warranty for 995B question?
I purchased a 995B new in 2004 as my first rifle when i turned 18 and I started having troubles with it in 2006, so since then its sat oiled in my safe. I just recently disassembled my 995B and have found a few damaged components that are causing not only the feed issue but a jam issue when it does manage to feed properly.
Here is the short list of damaged components;
-Feed ramp on the barrel has extensive wear and a horizontal groove worn as if it was hit with a chisel
-The slot in the breech bolt where the sear pin rides has the metal sheared off causing a flap to develop
-The sear pin itself is worn unevenly (in my opinion, this is the only 995 ive ever disassembled)
-I dont know if this is applicable but the facotry coat has worn off the reciever and appears scored
My questions are; What are the necessary steps i need to take to recieve either warranty replacement parts or a replacement rifle? Will I need to send in the rifle as an assembly or just the failed components? Does warranty even apply to the 995B? Is this type of damage typical with this model of rifle? Anyways, Id appreciate any iformation that can be shared.

I took some pics of the damage in case my description was not sufficient, but I have no idea how to attatch an image yet, possibly someone could give me a hint on that too?

Re: ?HP warranty for 995B question?
Call the toll free number on the Hi Point website, they can tell you more on whether it would be better to send it in or repair it yourself... however, the feed ramp isn't something that you can replace yourself. The older Hi Point had a different feed ramp design than the newer ones from what I've seen, my C9 Comp has a groove I am assuming is like what you are describing and it seems to be a factory design.
If call them and send it in, they will do an overhaul and replacement of whatever parts need replaced no matter what.

Re: ?HP warranty for 995B question?
For anyone interested; I was able to get in touch with a service rep at HP regarding my warranty questions, found that even though this is an older model, no questions asked warranty applied. I was told all the damaged components would be able to be shipped to me for an in home repair with the exception of the sear pin. The sear pin being the reason my 995B will need to be assembled and sent to HP.
Customer service is great when you're able to get a hold of a rep, lesson learned:
-don't waste time with an e-mail, took 3 business days for a response telling me to call the factory.
-if you call and reach a busy signal, keep calling, you'll eventually get through.
Looking forward to having a functional 995 again, been inspired to mod it as far as I can once returned, will post pics when complete! SOLD ON THE HI-POINT!

Re: ?HP warranty for 995B question?
Long and short of it is, sorry, you are most likely going to get a brand new gun out of this. The old one doesn't have the LRHO and in order to add it, you are gonna get brand new everything. If the stock is damaged, you will get a new one too, as well as trigger lock, sling (and mounting hardware) and probably a new mag. Your old parts will most likely be in the owners's museum.

Re: ?HP warranty for 995B question?
I sent a 995B in about a year ago. Got it back in 7 days and as I recall the receiver was the only part that came back original. The only thing I might have paid for was they called and asked if I wanted the TS when it came back. There was a charge for that, no charges for anything when it came back with a new old style stock. If they don't have them anymore you might end up with a TS free.

Re: ?HP warranty for 995B question?
I wouldn't get your hopes up for a free TS upgrade...I would bet they have a few older stocks left in the warehouse for the older 995's. I know the slide will be replaced for sure and the head space looks off in the chamber, so you will probably get a new barrel out of it. As for the LRHO, it requires a new frame to install it and they won't (as far as I know) make a new frame without it. If they are going to go through all of that, you will probably get a new everything, but probably not the new TS stock, unless you buy it. If you like the TS upgrade, call them and ask them about it. I believe it is $40 for them to send it to you, and $60 if you send it to them, and they go through the entire gun....but if they already have it......never know unless you call.

Re: ?HP warranty for 995B question?
My advise is, send the whole gun in. The reason they won't send you a sear is because it is fitted for each gun, no 2 guns are alike, similar... maybe, but not truly the same . Take a pic of the serial number before you send it in, I bet $20 when it comes back it will be the same serial number, but different print....Lol. let me know if I was right.
