Default Modding 995 magazine for hunting.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can modify one of my mags to use the 995 for the occasional deer drive.

Here you can use any center fire rifle as long as it holds 6 or less rounds, or the removable magazine holds 5 or less.

I was thinking of finding the depth for 5 rounds and just making a tiny punch or cut in the front or back and bending a tab in so that it will stop after 5 are in. Think that would work?

Just guessing, could you pre load the mag with Dummies? Just a thought. Good luck with it.

You should be able to remove the base of the magazine with a screwdriver. Get the base off, and put in some sort of spacer that would prevent more then 5 rounds from being installed.

Since they are single stack mags, it should be pretty easy. Measure a cartridge then make a spacer out of aluminum or plastic, whatever you have available, equal to five cartridges. You will probably have to remove some of the spring as well, but as far as how much would need to be taken off would be trial and error. I would probably go one coil and see if it still functions fine.

I called Hi-Point, and they said try to do it however you think best. If you mess up the magazine they would send me another one. As of yet I haven't attempted it, because my State relaxed the 5 shot mag rule.

No different than puttin' the plug in my Mossberg 9200 for doves versus tree rats.

Here we are all trying to get a higher mag capacity, and this guy wants less. LOL A block of wood under the mag spring should work fine.

I just cut down a piece of wood scrap and inserted it through the bottom just measure out the bullets you want out. No spring change needed
