YES, safe to shoot .223 in 5.56. 5.56 has a higher pressure.

So why is this in the HiPoint section, not the general firearms section?
BTW, Nice gun.

Congratulations! Should serve you well. If you're like me, you'll probably enjoy shooting the .223 more than the 5.56 'cause the 5.56 makes a much bigger bang. When the guy at the next bench is shooting 5.56 I often run for plugs in addition to my muffs. For some reason, though, it doesn't bother me as much when I'm shooting the 5.56.

Muzzle brake deflects noise sideways. My NY legal Stag is noisier for me to shoot than my other 16" carbine without the muzzle brake. Shorter barrels are noisier than longer barrels too.

exactly
NATO ammo has higher chamber pressure. kind of like shooting a +p+ round out of a gun that isnt rated for it
NATO ammo is spec'd at 62000 psi
.223 (originally .222 rem special) is spec'd at 55000 psi
might not seem like a lot...but a .45 acp is only 21000 psi

Now comes the REALLY expensive part... Just like kids.. relatively easy to get one.. though it takes time sometimes... Keeping the little buggers fed is what eats you out of house and home..

just dont spoil her, keep her fed with surplus and she wont need any sporting rounds
nice purchase by the way, just dont hide it in the closet or you wife will be looking for soemthing and it will fall on her toe, worst way to introduce someone to it.
