The problem with guns and ammunition is what the market will bear. The price of this stuff is going to be run completely off this planet. It's not good guy and bad guy. It's about one race dominating another race, one religion dominating another religion. The fight will be about survival. The voters made a terrible mistake.

You guys know that police have had to break into gun stores to get weapons that would be stronger than the adversary they have, right? LOL That's a direct quote from Dianne Feinstein. What an idiot.

She is actually referring to the bank robbery in Cali WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY back when where the LAPD had to go to local gunstores and take AR's and M-16's before they carried them. They didn't break in to anything to get them though. HOWEVER, if they weren't for sale the cops would have gotten their a$$es whupped worse than they did.

That may be the case, but the context she uses makes it sound like it's a common practice NOW:

"Do you realize that we have 150,000 plus gang members in this nation? When they go up against the police, it's generally an AK 47. Do you realize that police have had to break into gun stores to get weapons that would be stronger than the adversary they have? Do you realize that one out of every five law enforcement officers that's killed is killed with an assault weapon? Do you need assault weapons? These are weapons that are made to kill large numbers of people in close combat, and what we have found that now with the AR 15, they have a slide stock which you put in. It's legal, and it makes the gun act fully automatic."

We *have*, not had. We have 150,000 gang members, they use an AK47 against the police, so the police have had to break into gun stores to get something bigger....... that's the way she says it to try to terrorize people who are "on the fence" on this issue to garner the support they need.

I understand that Police and municipalities need to work with budget constraints, but really? The Police department waited for the insanity to happen, then realized they were out gunned?
Was there some kind of information vacuum surrounding Central Texas for the last 5 years?

I'm not arguing. I was just giving the FACTUAL reference to what she bastardized and twisted to suit her agenda.

Maybe she should stop making stuff up and stick to facts:

----------------------
108th CONGRESS
1st Session
H. R. 648
IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
February 5, 2003

The Congress finds the following:

(1) Police cannot protect, and are not legally liable for failing to protect, individual citizens, as evidenced by the following:

(A) The courts have consistently ruled that the police do not have an obligation to protect individuals, only the public in general. For example, in Warren v. District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department, 444 A.2d 1 (D.C. App. 1981), the court stated: `[C]ourts have without exception concluded that when a municipality or other governmental entity undertakes to furnish police services, it assumes a duty only to the public at large and not to individual members of the community.’.

(B) Former Florida Attorney General Jim Smith told Florida legislators that police responded to only 200,000 of 700,000 calls for help to Dade County authorities.

(C) The United States Department of Justice found that, in 1989, there were 168,881 crimes of violence for which police had not responded within 1 hour.

(2) Citizens frequently must use firearms to defend themselves, as evidenced by the following:

(A) Every year, more than 2,400,000 people in the United States use a gun to defend themselves against criminals–or more than 6,500 people a day. This means that, each year, firearms are used 60 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives.

(B) Of the 2,400,000 self-defense cases, more than 192,000 are by women defending themselves against sexual abuse.

(C) Of the 2,400,000 times citizens use their guns to defend themselves every year, 92 percent merely brandish their gun or fire a warning shot to scare off their attackers. Less than 8 percent of the time, does a citizen kill or wound his or her attacker.

-------------

Well, I'd think it might pay to keep a few M14s in serviceable condition in the armory. After all, if I were going up against bad guys with AK-47s like the Hollywood shootout Feinstein likes to refer to, I'd think I would prefer a M14 to return fire.
