Like I said I am building a NFA 11.5 in ar 15. The first step in the process was for me to get my C&R FFL. This is a state requirement. That was sent off on mar 31, and I got that on Jun 20th. After getting that, I filled out my paperwork and went to visit the sheriffs office for fingerprints and the sign off on the form 1. I got some smart remarks from one of the deputies. He asked me what i planned on doing with that besides rob banks. I told him that if I was going to rob banks, I would not have gone to all the trouble of building a legal SBR, and I would have just made it illegally. I thanked the lady who did my prints and left. I will drop it in the mail tomorrow.

So far I have gotten a surplus arms & ammo / aero precision lower with a commercial spec stock and a bushmaster LPK. I also have an aero stripped as flat top with m4 feed ramps.

I wonder how long this will take?

Depends on who you get for your reviewer. I recommend going on NFAtracker and looking at their metrics. That'll help you get an estimate, but I'd guess about 4 months. Welcome to the NFA club comrade, there's no turning back now :devilsidesmile:

Looks like William Shipman will be my examiner. From what i see on nfatracker.com he is approving them in about 2 months. that would be cool. In the mean time I will save up for my barrel. i also need to get a BCG and the rest of the parts to get my stripped upper together. I want to get a free float quad rail and magpul moe stock and ambi single point sling mount. Plenty to keep my busy untill I can leagally get my barrel.

i cant remember who did mine years ago for my cans, but it took three months and a week from mailbox to mailbox.

Well my paperwork was sent to the lock box on june 29 and forwarded to the branch. They still have not cashed my check yet. i thought that was one of the first things they did. They told me it would be 45 days after they cash the check. I just hate having a check floating around out there. At least I know they got the app.

They've been real behind lately because several of the reviewers were either promoted up or retired. Thus they are shorthanded. I'm also sure all the ATF related scandal lately has at least interfered somewhat with business as usual.

Update.

After chatting with the lady at the NFA branch, my app got sent to the lock box, and was undeliverable so it was returned. Now it has been resubmitted to the lock box again. She said within the next week the check should finally be cashed.
