Default Kennesaw Georgia - gun Law

Found this snippet interesting. City law requiring gun ownership

Spoke with a technician who lives there who confirmed it is an actual law

Kennesaw is noted for its unique firearms legislation in response to Morton Grove, Illinois' law mandating gun prohibition. In 1982 the city passed an ordinance [Sec 34-21][23]

(a) In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore.

(b) Exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who suffer a physical or mental disability which would prohibit them from using such a firearm. Further exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who are paupers or who conscientiously oppose maintaining firearms as a result of beliefs or religious doctrine, or persons convicted of a felony.

I lived in Kennesaw from 1990-1993. The ordinance was in place then but was not actively enforced. BTW, there was very little crime in Kennesaw during those days. I don't know what the crime rate in Kennesaw is today as the town has grown tremendously since 1993.

Looks like Kennesaw's big problem according to their page is things getting stolen from unlocked vehicles.

There has been one murder there in the last 5 years. Maybe Chicago should take note.

Just left the Chicago area for Georgia, been a great PCS move for me so far.

GA is awesome. The Sheriff's dept, does what it is paid to do from what I can see. They catch the criminals, where in Chicago the headline was always "No Suspects in Custody"
