Most guys I know use a .223 AR-15 type rifle. Mostly Bushmasters.

I would think any decent power round(s) would work

There was a guy here a little while ago who got 2 in one night, I think he was using 124 grain Speer Gold Dot +P. Try a search for "Kill Shot", by flagrant83. I'm sorry, I don't know how to link to it, or I would. Good luck, I'd love to get a coyote or 2 myself.

anything "bigger" than a .22lr will kill them.....place your shots in the right spot and even the .22 would work.....

ive killed them with everything from 22lr to 45-70. i prefer 243 for short range fast action and 30-06 for longer range calling. ive also taken them on at close range with handguns while protecting teh sheep herd. i dont reccomend you try that.

they do that anyway. the claws and teeth generally make it a not so fun expierience.

a $100 mosin nagant should make short work of coyotes . if hunting for pelts id use something smaller 22-250 .223 .243, but sounds like you are looking to protect your animals and a 7.62x54R soft point will sure take care of any coyote . plus the rifles are cheap , accurate and easy to maintain .
