Re: best round for coyote?
I shot one with a .500 S&W while deer hunting this season. and it worked like a charm.

Re: best round for coyote?
you sure a 500 S&W is enough gun ? if i see one while out deer hunting it will get a 300 grain XTP from my muzzle loader . i have had em come running while squirrel hunting using a squirrel bark call .

Re: best round for coyote?
I was getting ready to walk to the truck and I saw one run out in the field between me and the truck so I lip squeaked him into about 50yds, one shot from the trusty ole .500S&W and he did not stand a chance.
I usually use my M4 or shotgun when yote hunting, but a .22lr would do the job if there close enough and you can get a clean shot. buckshot, .223, 22-250, .243, .308 and so on will all do the trick.

Re: best round for coyote?
hunting from aircraft is getting popular here for control measures. automatic 12 ga shotguns and lots of 00 buckshot. one guy that lives near my dad hunts with a drum fed saiga 12 from a powered parachute rig.

Re: best round for coyote?
Wow! Fairly drastic for varmit control. Hot dogs soaked in antifreeze take the sport out of it but it seems to be a heck of a lot cheaper.

Re: best round for coyote?
Isn't hunting from aircraft highly illegal to? Hunting from propelled boats including sail power is illegal for waterfowl, deer, and small game.
