My favorite caliber is the 9x19mm Luger. Second, a close second, is the .45 ACP. Not too big on the .40 S&W, but am still hoping Hi Point will come out with the 10mm Auto. I would hunt with that, and not worry a hoot about rain or snow getting on the gun.

Well to get this back on track, 9mm luger, 7.62x39/54, and .22lr. All very effective rounds for what they were designed for

30mm? At 30mm I suspect we've left Rifle-ville far behind and taken up residence in Cannon-land!

Currently that would be 7.62x54R.

The 10mm auto is okay but still it was supposed to be a replacement or superior improvement over the 9mm, well it fell short the 9mm parabellum is still one the most effective rounds with the 0mm not coming close. So why not just use a 9mm to hunt?

I'll let someone who knows 10mm better than me deal with that, but maybe you should look up the ballistics and the development of the 10mm. It is my understanding the 10mm will hunt responsibly and the 9mm will not.

Agreed on both accounts. i was just saying the 10mm is an ok roun. But the initial hype surrounding its debut was blown WAY out of proportions. But I have never personally shot a 10mm i was just throwing my two cents in on the subject about the 10mm round compared to the 9mm. for hunting yes the 10mm is idealy better than the 9mm. But for a personal defense would rather have the 9mm.( Between the two choices )

The 9 is decent for self defense, ammo capacity, low recoil, etc, but I prefer the 45 acp for defensive purposes, based on it's proven stopping power, and I can control the recoil easily during tepid fire.

Very well said

By the way my two favorite calibers are the two extreme opposites. The .22lr just for fun. And the 500 s&w out of a 4" barrel, again just for fun. Having said that my three shtf calibers are 9mm,12 ga, and 30-06.
