Default 'Nother Ammo Question!

I know, I am just the worst, ain't I?

Looking at the best defense ammo for 9mm Luger. I've read a lot of articles mentioning both Cor-Bon and DoubleTap as being some of the best, specifically the +P 115 gr. JHP. Wondering if this is true, or if I should look at some of the others like Federal or Remington, which I've also heard decent reviews for.
This will be for my Arcus and after I get my CCW which is in the works, so once again, I'm coming to the experts, since I'm new to the 9mm world.

The "best" defense ammo is the load that feeds most reliably in your particular gun. And is accurate in your particular gun. Beyond that, most premium self defense marketed HP loads in the 115-147 grain range expand reliably and penetrate deeply these days, shot placement is the most important factor in "stopping" someone, not the "extra" 3 thousandths of expansion X gives over Y. Plus P can be an advantage in a full size gun with a long bbl, but increases rcovery time for a follow up shot. In the shorter bbls of the pocket sized CCW guns that are popular today, about all you get is more recoil and muzzle flash for only a few FPS gained.

I like the Winchester bonded PDX1 and Winchester Ranger T series.

I use Remington Golden Sabre in 147 gr. It's also offered in 124+p. It expands well and has a thick brass jacket that turns into some pretty mean petals while it's expanding. The 147 is subsonic and has low flash powder, so I keep it in my bedside pistol. I believe the FBI also uses this round, but I'm not sure which grain...

There are other brands that are just as effective, I just like this one (so does my pistol). Just about any modern defensive round will do, just be sure to shoot enough of them to make sure they cycle reliably, and practice often because shot placement trumps bullet design every time. After you find a defensive that cycles reliably, you can practice with cheaper ammo. At least I do, although I try to use the same weight of bullet to simulate the recoil of my defensive round. Quite a few people say to practice with what you will be using for defense, but I practice quite a bit and quality defensive ammo is too expensive for me to practice with beyond functionality testing.

CorBon has a reputation for being pretty hot, although I don't know this first hand.

Make sure before you come to a decision that your pistol can handle +P ammo. I am thinking it likely can and will but hey can't be too sure right?

I am going to order these for self defense.

My individual weapon I'm going to make sure of (you never know if your particular one might be a bad egg), but speaking to other Arcus owners I've found out it should be able to handle them just fine, and thanks for the link!
