Default Best bullet weight for .45 ACP pistol??

I noticed that the manual doesn't list a recommended bullet weight for the .45 ACP pistol.

What weight do y'all who reload use?

I use 230 Gr TMJ. I'm going to start trying other weights as soon as this supply runs out. Also thinking about lead if I can ever get the barrels to stop leading.

230 grain is what I've gotten the best results out of. It seems to me as if a lighter bullet traveling at a faster FPS isn't as accurate out of my guns.

230gr fmj has been the standard gi load for almost 100 years, and they have fed buttery smooth through every 1911 Ive had, pretty accurate too

230 as well, though I did get a box of 200 grain JHP's to try some reloading with, I was hoping to go a little faster than usual, hope my accuracy stays within acceptable SD levels... :cantlook:

A million years ago in my youth I did some reloading. I used lead RN but the last couple of shots in every mag and the last shot in a revolver were FMJ to help clear out the lead deposits in the barrel. When I was nearly done shooting I ran several rounds of FMJ at the end of the session. This helped but didn't eliminate the leading. Of course, this doesn't help with 45 ACP bullet weight.

Ditto. I run 230g LRN tumble lube pushed with HP-38 or W-231 with great accuracy and no leading issues.
