Default Have you slugged your barrel ?

This is a good idea if you plan on shooting lead. I did my 995TS and got .358. Have not done my 45 yet. What size are your barrels ?

What did you use for the slug. i have been wanting to slug my 995. I will probably just use a sinker but I would like to know what others have used.

you drive a slug of lead through teh barrel to exactly determine the diameter of land and groove to match lead bullet diamter to it.

I casted a round nose bullet (boolit) from a piece of roofing lead. People have used round sinkers or cast muzzle loader balls. Search you tube, you will find a few good walkthroughs. If you choose to get serious about shooting/reloading lead this is important for accuracy and to avoid leading-which can be a pain to remove from you barrel.

So I take it just using a standard mold for whatever caliber isn't exactly the best idea? Or is it more of a "for reloaders who take their craft seriously" type deal?

This is what frightens me about reloading, there's SO MANY things you have to take into account, and if you screw up one...it could screw you up.

you use it to determine what diameter to size your cast bullets to. .001 over bore diameter is best.

What I did was cast up some bullets and ran them through the barrel of my guns unsized. After that, I knew what resizing dies to buy for best results in my guns.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'm assuming if you buy jacketed bullets for reloading you don't have to worry about that?

Generally no, but there are always exceptions to every rule.
