Default Strange question

Ok, as the title states, I have a very odd question. First, a little info, my wife and I enjoy a higher amount of muzzle flash when we're plinking at the range. Now, our defensive ammo is factory, Federal High Shock hollow points, so we aren't worried about excessive flash in a home defense situation. What I want to know is, is there a safe way to increase muzzle flash for our fun ammo? Like I said, strange question.

Hard question to answer without knowing what you're shooting for guns and ammo. If it carbines, most of the powder is burned before the bullet leaves the barrel, so no. Adding more powder would create unsafe pressures.

If shotguns, a shorter barrel will give a hell of a flash, but anything less than an 18" barrel needs a Federal tax stamp.

It's a JHP 45 pistol, if that helps. Would a slower burning powder allow for more flash? I feel weird even asking these questions, as everbody else wants LESS flash.

Use Power Pistol and light up the world.
Use it in a .44Mag revolver and look at flames shooting out between the cylinder and barrel.
The flash is the temperature of the gases and not necessarily any powder still burning. Most powders these days use flash suppressants.

I understand completely, i'm the same way about the bang. most people use compensators that help some with the noise, I like the ones that make it louder. nothing funnier then having people 3 lanes over at the range popping off with a .22 and the wife firing the .338 and watching them jump when it goes off!

You're kidding! You want him to burn down the target? I've seen the muzzle flash off a Mosin that was three feet long. And that was in bright Arizona sunlight.

I've been considering a Mosin, just I don't know where any rifle ranges are. I mean, sure, BassPro has a rifle tube, but that doesn't sound fun!

I think the Russians put extra muzzle flash in there powder intentionally. Maybe ground up tracer compound.
