Yeah, just some dried cosmo crud. Cleaned out okay though, and shot pretty good despite the bore looking pretty worn.

Also added to the collection a 1944 Sako M39 Mosin parts gun, that turns out to be a 1898 Tula, so it's an antique. Then a 1895 Mosin Nagant M91. And lastly a Westinghouse 1915 Mosin Nagant with chopped stock, but the barrel hasn't been chopped and the bore looks decent for it's age. I have been in the process of installing the Finnish 2 stage triggers and dimpled magazines in some of these to increase reliability, but staying with same arsenal makers. Keeping all original parts though labeled to go in storage and with rifle should I ever sell. I love the simplicity of the Mosins. I like the Mausers, but they are signifigantly more expensive. My brother gave me his beat up Chilean 1895 Mauser to fix up as well. Has no real value, as it's been rechambered in .308, so I'm just gonna make it nice looking to be a wall hanger, and maybe drill a small gas port and clean the bore should I ever need it in an emergency only.

Thanks. I am hoping to get some sort of stock for the Westinghouse. The M91 stocks are damn near impossible to find. If all else fails I will make a stock from an old Westinghouse refrigerator to keep it all Westinghouse. The '44 M39 I wasn't too fond of until I cleaned up the chamber and bore and found the receiver date. Now it's going to be fixed up a little.

Indeed, have you had a chance to shoot 'em?

The last three? No. The M39 is being peiced together. Waiting on a stock for the Westinghouse, but cleaned and oiled the metal and bore. Cleaned and oiled the 1895, but probably won't shoot that one. All the rest have been shot. The '44 M39 and Westinghouse WILL be shot when done.

My 91/59 Frankenchtick is a fine shooter, no shame in a parts gun. I picked up the barreled receiver with box magazine for $60.00, complete bolt for $25.00 and 91/30 furniture for $15.00.

My son seems to be drawn to it, I have a feeling that I am not the proper owner

I am saving at least one of the M39s for my son when he is old enough. Don't know if it will be the antique 1944/1898 or the 1967/1910 one, probably the older one since I got the new one first and have more of a connection with it. The '44 ain't too bad for a parts gun, which M39s kinda sorta were. My next purchase will be a carbine. I'd idealy like a Polish M44 since they look very nice, and some are still new.

Have always loved these pistols...I seen one at a lgs that didn't have an import stamp on it...at the time I didn't put two and two together..but for $400..I still kick myself for not jumping on it when I had the chance.
