Default Norinco tokarev sexiness. Converting from 9mm to 7.62?

Picked up this beauty with three mags, holster, and slip on grip for $150. I really want to convert it to 7.62x25 but don't know what I need. It does have the mag with the spacer in it, the mag well is cut for regular 7.62 mags. Do I just need a recoil spring and barrel?

Well, to convert my Romanian 7.62 to 9mm all I needed was a new barrel (and link and link pin for barrel if not included) and a new barrel bushing since the 9mm barrel was a bit thicker. You shouldn't need a new bushing. It shoots either ammo fine with the original recoil spring.

You will need a barrel with link and pin plus mags. been there and done it. But buy the time you buy the barrel at around 75 bucks and mags at 20 your better off to buy a 7.62x25 complete.

I bought a new chrome-lined barrel for my 7.62 for $30 shipped from SKSman. I also managed to get my 9mm barrel from Numrich for under $30. SKSman also had 7.62 mags for $15 - don't know if they're still in stock though.

Yup, ordered a tt30 7.62 barrel minus the link and pin plus a new recoil spring for $45 shipped. Then ran down to my local milsurp shop and scored 2 tok mags for $21.18. But then I ran into a 18" Remington 11-48 semi 12 with door breacher and heat shield for $220. Damnit, this conversion just jumped from $65 with two mags and spring to $300 lol.

So some sources say that the 9mm bushings are the same as the 7.62. Are the two barrel ODs the same?

Mine weren't. I had to order another bushing and use the ol' dremel tool on it to open it up a bit. The 9mm barrel was a bit larger than the 7.62.

You might want to check out my post from a while ago. It might help you a bit: http://www.hipointfirearmsforums.com/Forum/index.php/topic,33436.0.html

These measurement are in the link too but to save you some time I'll post 'em here too:

Original 7.62 barrel OD = 0.4940
New chrome-lined 7.62 OD = 0.4955
9mm Norinco 213 barrel OD = 0.5065
ID on my original bushing = 0.4990

A new 7.62 barrel would most likely fit your bushing just fine but, it may even end up being a bit loose.

So it seems there are two different 9mm barrel ODs. If my 7.62 barrel is too loose I guess I'll just pick up that comp'd bushing.

How about this, I was think in class today if a FLGR from a 1911 would fit the tok. Any thoughts on that? What about the link and pins? Can I use a standard roll pin from homedepot or must I buy a surp unit? Assuming I cannot get the link and pin from the 9mm barrel.

How long does sks man take to ship? I order from him last Wednesday and haven't gotten anything from him.

Yeah, if it's too loose you may want a new bushing.
I'm not sure if the 1911 parts will fit.
You could probably get away with a pin from HomeDepot.
If you can get the pin and link out of the 9mm barrel, then you're good to go. Mine wouldn't budge so that's why I had to get a new set.
SKSman takes a while to ship. That doesn't sound out of the ordinary. I can't remember how long exactly.

How about converting a M57 x25 to a 9mm? Is it do able? Surplus ammo is pretty much all dried up now. Only a few sites still list any and prices are going up like gas.
