Re: Star Modelo Super 9mm Largo
It finally came today! These are pics of it fresh out of the box. The only thing I see wrong is that the safety is missing a spring or something cause it just flips back and forth with no detent. Its a 1948, fair condition, could use some new grips and a good bluing. Im very happy for $160 shipped.

That seems to be a great price for 9mm largo, I've never seen it that cheap, you should stock up now at that price.

Re: Star Modelo Super 9mm Largo
A friend and I were in a LGS last week and we looked at a Star - real hard. Not knowing much about them, I got on the ethernet highway and learned a lot. I emailed my friend and both agreed it would be in the nice to have category, the drawbacks being odd ammo size for LGS and parts availablity (and local gunsmith willing to fix.) Let us know how it shoots. At that price, it may be worth a second look.

Triple K makes replacement grips and magazines:
http://www.triplek.com/Products/id/38/grp/412/prd/1228/
Century sells 60s surplus ammo too, $5.95 a box but if you buy in bulk their flat rate shipping might save a few bucks:
http://www.centuryarms.biz/proddetail.asp?prod=AM1282E
Numrich shows sold out on your safety parts, but IIRC the plunger is essentially just a short rod with the end rounded off. You chould be able to make one and find a spring to fit.
At one time, a company made 9mm Luger conversion bbls for these, they required fitting but once installed they let you shoot readily available 9mm ammo in them with just a drop in bbl change.

Re: Star Modelo Super 9mm Largo
Well I got the safety fixed!
I used a extra axle pin from a rc car that I had laying around and it made the perfect plunger.
The metal pin below is what I used
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNMR8&P=7
I was having a hard time finding a spring small enough to fit in the little hole in the frame. That was untill I snipped the end off a schrader valve and found the perfect size spring. I stuck the spring in the hole and then pushed the axle pin down and installed the safety. Perfect! clicks back and forth like it should!

Re: Star Modelo Super 9mm Largo
I shot the Star today! It was nice, had the same feel as my Tokarev. I will have some pics up within the hour of my target.

Re: Star Modelo Super 9mm Largo
Sarco sells two types of Largo, or at least they did the last SGN. One was corrosive the other wasn't. Checked Sarco website at 3:40 AM 4/22/2011. They still have 9x23 Largo for sale, but non-corrosive is pretty pricey.
