Within their rights.

As I'll I be when I tell people about this, and never buy anything from them again.

Yep, I literally just e-mailed that link to our purchasing officer at the FD and he called me back to say we won't be buying any of our supplies from them anymore and to start looking for a local supplier instead.

Coincidentally, I just got an email earlier today from Staples about their sales. I unsubscribed and told them why

So the Fire Department is officially pro-gun?
What's next for the FD? Pro-life, lunch from chick-filet, what?
Since the FD is funded with tax-payers money they should shop with whomever gives them the best price, pro-gun or anti-gun should have nothing to do with it.

How is this even legal?

If a business such as a bakery or florists is not allowed to refuse to service a same sex wedding, how is Staples allowed to discriminate against the firearm industry?

Uh.. They can refuse service to anyone for any reason as long as they are not in violation of national discrimination laws. Now some states have laws preventing you from say excluding gay people, but firearm holders and businesses are not a protected class of people.
