Default about Indiana gun permits

I am wondering if somebody could tell me the process on what all to expect from going to get indiana state police station to pay my local fees. I have already been finger printed at L1 identity. They said now I just have to go to my local police dept and pay the local fees. I am just wondering what to expect when I get there. Do I just go in and pay the fees? I already filled the app out online. Any info would be appreciated..

You don't go to the state police to pay your local fee. Your state fee was included in the price when you paid for your L1 fingerprinting. Take the card that L1 provided to you and go to YOUR local PD. If you live in city limits it would be the town PD if you live in the county it would be your local Sheriffs department.

You will simply give them the card and tell them that you wish to pay your local fee and they will take your money and give you a receipt. You will go home and wait till you receive your LTCH in the mail in 1-2 weeks then your all set. Hopefully you did the lifetime option so you'll not have to mess with renewals and wasted renewal fees.

BTW welcome from east central Indiana.

Once you have your finger print done then you mail the finger print card, application and a check to the state police (They admin. all permits). Just google Indiana Gun Permit and get the PDF info. download, everything is very clear and understandabel. Actually I think it must be a postal money order you send and by all means do get the lifetime permit so you don't have to go thru all this again in 4 years.

I live out in the boondocks so things may be different. I fillled out the application on line and was given an application # to take to my LE agency (Co. Sheriff) where I got photographed and finger printed and was told to get a money order for state fee and mail it to the State police In Indianapolis. About 2 weeks later I got my permit in the mail, Be sure to sign it. My son who lives in a small town nearby had to do the same except he had to go to the local town cop shop for the finger printing.

Seems like everyone has the bases covered, but google is your friend. "Indiana LTCH application" should answer every question you have.

You must live around Evansville? They are the only place in the state of I know of that was caught illegally photographing people for the license. They have since been forced to stop doing so.
