Default HP 40 cal Ammo?

Just bought mine Sat at a gun show. Best choice for practice FMJ commercial ammo would be?

Ok thanks for the input on the ammo. The only factory ammo I buy is for my various 22 revolvers and rifles as I custom load 32's, 38's, 45's and 12 ga, all for SASS matches. This is the only Semi-Auto gun we own having sold the last one, a 1911, some 4 years ago. Really prefer single actions but couldn't pass up a deal on a LNIB for 150 bucks! So, it will be my car piece for now.

I wrote HP about the laser I saw on their pages, but that was just yesterday so I don't expect a quick answer. Do you know anything about it? I notice my gun has a slot under the barrel that I am guessing is for that.

OK, bought a box of Remington FMJ today and shot 10 round through my new 40 JCP on my home range and got 6" groupings at 10 yards so am satisfied that it will work as intended...nothing more than a car gun tucked in the rear pocket of the passenger seat anyway. Probably won't shoot it again for a year, but that's OK for a $150 pistol that seems to be able work just fine when needed.

In my house I only use 45 LC in single action for bad guys, 22 mag revolver for Coons, Henry Golden boy in 22 LR for squirrels plus a loaded Stoeger Coach in 12 ga for any one who tries to break in. Of course, here in N Florida, we just don't have bad guys as they know every redneck is loaded for bear!

Very pleased so far with my Hi-Point and will recommend it to others....if asked.

I feed my HP 40 anything. It's not picky. For plinking I just Buy good old WWB! For shooting bad guys I got some Silver tip Hollow Points....

A couple weeks ago I bought some 180gr gdhp Speer Gold Dot hollow point SD rounds for my HP JCP .40. and 4095. They won't feed a single full mag without stovepiping. in either one. I don't know if the hollowpoint mouth opening is too large and catches or what, but I'm now on the search for another SD round. I practice with FMJ's and round nose lead in both guns and have had very few malfunctions with either. In fact, I don't recall any failure to feed on either gun. Any JCP and/or 4095 SD suggestions? Thanks.

Haven't found anything my JCP 40 wont fire reliably but the Blazer Brass at $13.00 a box seems to be my favorite for plinking.

My jcp functions flawless with any fmj but on hollow points it will sometimes get hung up, my 4095 ate the same hollowpoints like candy.
