High capacity .22 pistol? (other than GSG-5)
Are there any high capacity .22 pistols out there that don't suck? I love my Ruger for targets and whatnot, but for going camping or something I don't really want to carry all those extra mags around and risk damaging or losing them. Are there any good .22 pistols with preferably a 20+rnd magazine, yet aren't huge like the GSG-5p?

Pretty much no.
The only ones that I'm aware of are pistol ARs with a conversion kit, the GSG5 pistol, the Ruger Charger pistol (10/22 with a pistol receiver) and the TEC 22 (think TEC 9 with a 22 barrel that uses 10/22 magazines). The TEC 22 is a very unreliable gun from what I have read.

Yeah the reason I asked about pistols that don't suck is because if the TEC-22 wasn't a jamtacular piece of crap (from every review I've ever heard) I'd have one. It would be amazing if somebody would make a full size .22LR pistol that had a 30 round magazine.

Re: High capacity .22 pistol? (other than GSG-5)
The TEC .22 suffered from 2 problems, the biggie was the chamber was undersized. I've worked on several and every one I ran a "Match" reamer through made chips. After that they fed a lot better. The ejection problem was a result of using aftermarket hicap mags. The 10/22 mag has the ejector built into it, it's the face of the left side feed lip. Most of the mags available back in the day were made of plastic, the edge wore down pretty quick and then you get failures to eject. Use Butler Creek Steel Lip mags and they last a lot longer.
However, given a choice between one of them or the new Ruger Charger I'd take the Ruger. The main problem with a hicap "standard" pistol is the rimmed cartridge pretty much requires a curved mag for high capacity so it ain't gonna fit in the pistol grip.
Another possibility is the old Calico .22 pistol with the 100rd drum, kinda hard to find but they are out there. Most worked well.

The CZ Standard can be had in a .22LR and I believe it comes in 10,16 or 19 shot mags's,

+1. Would buy one in a heart beat. Many people don't think much of a 22 as a defensive round but I would carry a 22 with a 30 round mag and be perfectly happy with it.
Long ago I read of a pistol that held 20 22LR, don't remember now what it was. But it was said that the pistol was only in production for a few years and then pulled because no one was buying it.
I bet people would buy them now. Cost of ammo being like it is. A gun like that (22LR with a 20 to 30 rounds capacity) it would be hard to keep on the shelves.

Problem with that is you can buy pistols that shoot 9mm, 40SW and 45acp that hold that quantity all day long..
Just seems like there should be a way to make a 22 magazine that can hold a but load of rounds in 22 and still fit in to a pistol.
It might end up being a full size pistol with a larger grip front to back to account for the bend in the mag. But something should be doable.
