Default Ruger SR9C Range report

Well I finally made it to the range with the new SR9C. WOW, I love it. Total, I ran 140 rds. through it without a single FTF or FTE. That consisted of 100 rds, 115 gr WWB, 20 rds, 115 PMC & 20 rds. of Brown Bear 145gr. Hollow Point. It was a blast. The first target with rings was the first 17 rd. mag right out of the box. Obviously it is a little low and left, but being the scatter brain I am sometimes, I forgot to that both a small screwdriver and allen wrench along to adjust it. That being said, the body target was shot using good ole Kentucky Windage method. I fired all shots quickly and steady. NOT rapid fire, but quickly. The head shots were from 25 feet and the body shots from 50 feet. With some more practice I expect those groupings to tighten up quite a lot.

The mags were quite stiff to load. Trigger pull was firm, but not outrageous and I did not feel like I was using more pressure than would be necessary. Grip was great also, although it does come with a reversable backstrap, I left on the contoured one that was installed at the factory.

Bottom line, a great shooter, excellant grip feel, Sights that are real easy to get on target quickly, Nice compact size and I think will make a nice CC gun. (IF, Wisconsin ever gets it passed.)

SR9s are good as long as you dont have the barrel peening issues. watch for that and have fun!

Thanks for the review, I have an SR9 & have thought about getting the SR9C. It's one sweet looking gun too.

Definetly keeping an eye on the barrel peening issue. From what I have heard and read that has been addressed and taken care of on the new Sr9's and all the SR9C's...

Now, after looking up pictures of barrel peening and such. How does that begin to affect the performance of the gun?

If it has an OOB safety, will that eventually stop it from firing? Or is it the standard "leads to possible barrel failure"?
