I don't know where to post this, maybe we should have a training section, but I have started a new drill that I am very happy about. I was watching deadliest warrior a few weeks back ( I know this show is mostly crap but there are some great weapons on it) and They were talking about the Viet Cong. They stated they had an ammo shortage and were limited to three rounds a day for training. I did some math and from my two primary guns (1911 and AK) I put about 1000 rounds each through them. I however put those rounds out in about 12-15 sessions thorough the year. So since I have a 75 yard backyard range I decided to shoot 3 rounds each every day from each gun. The reason I decided to try this was because the past few times I have been out I have been performing way under what I feel is my capability, and even further still under where I would like to be. It has been a bit over a week and I feel I am back to where I was about a year ago, and getting closer to where I was at my prime (pre recession when I was out about 3 times a week.) We all know the fundamentals of trigger control and sight alignment, but limiting yourself to so few round really makes you want to make them count, I am quite happy with the improvement. I would recommend to anyone with a range close to there home, back yard range, or a range on the way home from work to try this, I'll report back if I feel I have surpassed my own standards (since most of these may have been ego based I don't know if it is possible lol)

I wish I had a backyard range to do the 3 rounds a day thing. Some people get all the luck! *super jealous!* Can you note what you felt like improved your shot each day?

Buy a pellet gun and practice anywhere, even indoors. One of the most accurate handguns I own is a Crosman revolver that resembles a Colt Python.

while its nice to use Pellet and Airsoft guns in theory.. its just not the same.. an airsoft gun is not gonna have the recoil or the "feeling" like when you fire a real gun. just MHO

well the before pics would be too embarrassing to show :embarrassed2: but I think one mistake I corrected was I was not tucking my AK in tight enough, I am used to much more recoil and I was too lax. I am also getting better at being patient, patience is something I've never had patience for.

Not airsoft, lead pellet shooting guns in .177 and .22 calbers. Yes, the recoil and bang isn't there, but the principles of sight picture, aim, hold, and trigger squeeze are still there. I daresay someone shooting an accurate airgun several times a week is going to be better practiced at shooting a cartridge gun than the guy who is just pointing his finger and saying bang due to a lack of a suitable firing range he can use anytime.

Cool idea man. There's a range on base, you have to shoot at targets through a concrete tube, safety on steroids, that's the AF for you...

Yeah, if six rounds doesn't keep the doctor away, he's a zombie. Break out the shotguns.

Anyway, if you shoot a revolver, use wax bullets. You get to use the same gun. Everything but the recoil and really loud bang - safe, and no ear protection needed.
