There are tradeoffs and advantages to all 3 of the big AR-15 thumpers. For us, the advantage in the SOCOM was availability of heavy bullets - up to 600 grns - and unmodified GI magazines, in case of a ban. I bought a Rock River upper and waited about 14 months for it.

Yeah, the .450" Bushmaster is really difficult to get down subsonic, as bullets run out around 300 grns. There's a suppressor we're going to test once some heavy .458" rounds get loaded.
