Was setting up to repurpose target loads to buckshot and round balls. Bought the necessary supplies but was having a hard time swallowing the 30 bucks for drill run crimper. Was looking around for something to make up when I came on a bag of hardwood toy car wheels I bought at Lowe's a few years back for a kids project. The inner detail ring fit the hull perfectly. Simply added a 1/4" screw as a mandrel. Made a block to hold the hull, chucked it in the drill press and spun away. The results were good. I spun all the spent hulls I had with the same results. The wheel shows little to no wear.
Don't know how long it will last but you get 4 wheels for less than 3 bucks. Just thought I would pass this along.
Oooooooooh! Asking for opinions! We're all good at giving them out!
Just looking at maybe buying some of these as they are cheap
One post because this is my first post. Two carbines because... well, I bought a used 995 monkey gun back in '13 and now it looks like it's gonna get a brand new stablemate in the form of a 4595. I shoot mostly cast bullets in the 995, and will probably do so in the 4595 as well.
My planet of the apes gun has never been back to visit Mom, although I did get a couple free parts (F&R sights; it just had a cheap scope on it when I got it) from the mothership.
I have to smack my C9 in the aft end of the slide to get the first round to chamber. Not fun any more.
So I got my C9 back from MOM after a barrel swap some misc cycling probs. Now it hits the target and cycles great; except I get a lot of first round hangs when I rack the first round and I have to smack it the a... Thought this would go away but it has not. Never a problem with auto chambering a round after firing.
I finally found a load that really shoots well in my 995. Shot about an inch group at
50 yards off bench rest.
Hornady 147 gr FMJ , 3.1 gr Universal. Could not get the Berry's 147 plated to shoot well no marker what powder I tried. Top group is 3.3 gr Universal Bottom is 3.1 gr Universal
