Finished With My 4595

I have my 4595 like I want it now.
Pinned in the stupid springy butt plate, much better now that it's solid.
I hated to spend nearly $180 (as much as I spent on the used carbine) on replacing the plastic rails with Aluminum ones, but now they are usable.
Went with the extra long top rail to have a longer sight radius with the Magpul flip ups.

I really didn't have confidence in the factory front sight, being clamped on with set screws down in dimples. If it were to get bumped and moved, it wouldn't have moved far (still down in the dimples) but enough to be off.
This long rail really links everything together solidly.

Optic is a Primary Arms Cyclops. 1x (no magnification) but the etched reticle and adjustable diopter are great features.
Sling is a Vickers, I used them in the Army. And have them on all my carbines.
I drilled out the factory swivels and put in some 1 1/4" swivels.

Not real sold on the forward grips, but I had it already and wanted it on there when I did the paint so it would be the same. It probably won't be on there much. It has a Q.D. lever so easy to take off.
If I put a light on it would probably be the OLight pistol light I have, a bit big and heavy for a pistol, but it is on the small size for a long gun light. It is 1350 lumen with a green laser, and would fit nicely on the rail under the barrel, and be fairly protected there.
I also have a Surefire Dual Output (600 lumen) with wired end cap, and the Tango Down VG has a slot for the pressure plate to turn it off and on.

I threaded the barrel last week, and had an A2 flash hider last time I shot it, but the groups opened up when it was on. I'll try it again when I go out shooting, but for now the muzzle just has a thread protector.
Might have gone overboard on the camo job, I'd like the carbine to be a bit more tan/brown than green for the terrain around here so will fix that after the range trip Sunday.
My dog always has to get into the picture !

Calculations are what make rifles. Ask a land surveyor, an engineer or maybe even a machinist.
That being said, your under-barrel rail is actually very good for a light/laser with a momentary switch pressure pad. I have a TruGlo Tru-Point on my 995ts. The laser isn't zeroed with any particular impact points. It's set at an even point with the bore (confirmed the measurement using a laser boresighter and a tape measure at the range). I just know where it hits at 7, 50 and 100 yards. Just saying that it works based on my own experience.

I'm not trusting my life to a PCC and a 150y target. And we're discussing the efficacy of a side mounted laser on a 4595. My 4095 is purely a range toy and teaching tool for gun shy people new to rifle shooting.

You can ring steel all day long at whatever range you want with a pistol round. I prefer fully capable rifle rounds that I can put in work with from 0- 600y and 0 - 1,000 yards. I don't need to correct for 25" of drop at 175y like you will.
Your life, your choice.

Pistol calibre rounds are more than with their salt out to 200. Sure a rifle would be better but guess what... I dont have a rifle yet so I'll be using my carbine.

I dont get the stuck upness on a HI POINT forum... jeesh lol

If this single shot .22 was good enough for this lady and this bear, my 9mm 2500 fps civil defense rounds should do just fine

Punching paper and punching meat at 150y are completely different. Not to mention the fact that your 60gr round lacks the mass to effectively cut through the wind or effectively carry its velocity over long range. Not to mention the fact that it's frangible.

Like you said; your life, your choice. Pay no mind to the folks with actual combat experience though.

The sh*t show continues. No use arguing with this guy, at some point he will edit or delete your posts. Can't have the administrator looking bad, now can we ?

I noticed when browsing here before I joined that many, if not most, of Rachgier's comments on guy's threads were condescending and borderline ridicule.
Really nice that the administrator has to continually talk down to the members like that.
Pretty sad.
Agreed! i thought this was a place where guys like me could be proud of their choice in arms. Like dam!
Sorry I can't afford a Russian AK like these other guys so just sh*t on me more why dont u:(

My first gun I bought was a used .45 JHP that I bought for $100.
Still have it, my Florida road trip gun.
For a little more social distancing I do have an AK lol.
That you hit were you aim doesn't mean the bullet goes straight.
When you zero your sights at a certain distance you actually have two 'zeroes', a near one and a far one.

If you have a smartphone you can get a free version of the BulletDrop app where you can play with velocities and zero distances.

Efficacy can be defined as the performance of an intervention under ideal and controlled circumstances, whereas effectiveness refers to its performance under 'real-world' conditions.

I can't find anything on Uncle Dan's credentials and could only muster 4 min into the video.

He's already wrong about the 9mm in the carbine. It's not the same velocity as .357 SIG or .357 Magnum.
Except when you take a 9mm in a 16 inch barrel and a .357 Sig in a 4 inch barrel.
9mm out of a 16 inch barrel equals the velocity of .223 out of a 4(!) inch barrel and its half the velocity of a .223 out of a 16 inch barrel.
I've got no credentials, I'm just using a chart.

Not going to argue but once again, I cant afford an AK. If you are able to then more power to you.
My Carbine will do the job. Period
I hear ya, man. "RUN WHAT U BRUNG" as they say in street racing...
Get good with the carbine, research what works, get a good set-up, buy good ammo, lots of it, practice, and you will be OK. 9mm NATO is a relatively reasonable "hard hitter" and a bit better precision too. Smaller groups than the regular box ammo, heavier than 115gr and just as fast. Out of a Carbine, it really should be darn near equal to a 125gr 357 Magnum out of a 4" revolver. At least "close enough for govt. work" :D :D

You really need a true +P in a carbine to equal a 357 Magnum, and that is really just
the entry level, off the shelf stuff. To reiterate, it takes GOOD +P 9mm Ammo to
"EQUAL" the basic 357 Magnum stuff out of a revolver. But that basic revolver is
pretty awesome, and a 9mm Carbine with NATO is darn close.

Yes, a 9mm can kill a human being at 150yds. Self defense at 150yds? You might want to let them get closer for more accuracy. You whizz a bullet and don't make contact they hear the direction it came from. You have just become a "person of interest."

Rach talks about the 60gr Civil Defense round at that distance. I have no idea what that thing is doing at 150yds, or even 75. I like the Civil Defense. I poo-poo-ed the 9 version. I saw some testing and deduced it is a very effective round in several ways. It will penetrate level 3 body armor.

I got a bunch of it in .40, and .45. I am interested in seeing what speeds it has coming out of our carbines. Someday I'll get a chrono.

Bullet aerodynamics isn't very good on pistol rounds. I think I mentioned a couple of years ago eventually the ammo makers are going to try a boat tail in 9mm. Still waiting for that.

Some dingaling who insisted the 9mm was as powerful as a .357. That's all I really remember. He is on permanent vacation. You were here for that.

#68 ·
He's wrong too.
9mm out of a 16' barrel being equal to .357 SIG or Magnums :)

@Sirjwil
I'm gonna give you another chance.
There is more BS on YouTube then fact. That's a fact.
By about a 999:1 ratio.
I thought I knew about guns when I joined here. Now I've forgotten more then I knew back then.
Yeah you got a dent in your pride.
Get over it and join the party.
This is a good place to learn.
